2021 In season Roster Moves

Doubt Kim gets optioned at any point and expect him ... against a bit of a “softer” schedule in the coming weeks ... getting time at 2B and 3B.
???? The soft part of the schedule is right now (i.e. missing the covid crew) this homestand with Rox, then M's after the day off.
Mariners starts Day 1 of 34 games in 35 days. After them it's:
- @: Brewers (4), Astros, Cubs
- Home: vs. Mets (4), Cubs, only off day (travel to NY) then
- @: Mets, Rockies (soft yes, but always an adventure on road)
- Home: vs Reds (4), LAD
This is a TOUGH stretch. Aside from the M's to get the marathon started, nothing easy here. Even Colorado has a winning record at home...
I wouldn't pick here for Kim to "get acclimated to MLB pitching". Would rather have the SH potentially superior (at the moment) bat off the bench in Castillo. My main point is that there is a silver lining to all this unexpected rest for the 5 guys affected. I would say M's series rest: Jake, Machado, Grisham one day each. But then you're going to start your best lineup @ Milwaukee...
I just don't see how Kim is supposed to improve offensively without playing? Even AAA has a lot of current/former MLB P's. Kim is a vastly better player than Castillo will ever be, but right now, I think it would give the Pads a better chance to win in both the long & short run. Re-visit at the end of every Road trip & Home series.

Looks as though there may be some tinkering on the roster coming given the current situation they are over 40 and when Myers returns to active ... 42.
While they "returned" Andreoli to EP (so not on 40 man) the "optioned" both Castillo and Kivlehan and are still listed as on the 40 man.
Now with the TJ on Kela ... could put him on the 60 day IL to make room for one add for now while until they need to accommodate Myers.
IF moving Castillo or Kivlehan to non-roster ... would have thought they would have designated them as "return" for the get go ... so maybe either Altavilla or Williams go 60 day IL? Some other minor leaguer is DFA? Probably know on the weekend.

I think they "Returned" Kivlehan to Minors also per SDUT. Got reported wrong some sources incl Pads site?
He did a nice job, nothing against him, but adding 31 y.o. journeyman OF to roster fails logic test...
Kela will go to 60-day when Myers is activated, creating the spot that will be needed for Ivan Castillo

Alot of good candidates.
But I'm guessing AJ is hoping to not have to make a move.He's giving Pham every opportunity to produce and I'm sure he doesn't really want to lose any more prospects.
But there are a lot of good candidates.
Kris Bryant/Anthony Santander/Nelson Cruz/Mitch Haniger/Robbie Grossman/Nick Castellanos/David Peralta/Bryan Reynolds.....
My favorite option would be Andrew Benintendi...but I also think he would be the least available.
Obviously some would cost a lot more than others.

I really want a LH OFer, with some pop. We need some LHH balance IMO. MLBTR suggests that if the MIN Twins go into sell mode, that maybe Max Kepler would be available. Havent really looked at his numbers yet, so not sure if he would be what I think would be good, but????

Ramirez sent back down to AAA and Northcraft back up.
Keeping that extra arm in the pen with the DH in place (so not needing the extra bench player to PH, etc.) and helping rest the pen.
Northcraft probably goes down after they leave Houston / when Grisham is activated.
Note: Hosmer is in the line-up and Machado is playing 3B ... Tatis DH.

Sure.
But now I’m thinking Max Scherzer would be our best target.
By the time the Playoffs roll around Lamet and Weathers will be shut down at this rate.
I’d like to see a move for an innings eating Starter...so we could put those two into the Pen to preserve them for October to strengthen the Pen for the Playoffs.
Getting one who could also dominate like Max would be amazing.
Unless the Nats turn things around he could probably be available....but at what cost just as a rental?
Also,we wouldn’t want another NL playoff contender to get him.
