Ugggh.  Was planning to start this thread, but not for this!

10 day IL Tatis for now & recall O'Grady so not going through 2 more games vs Giants with only a 3-man bench?

That makes the most sense ... then option O’Grady when Grisham is activated on Friday?

Listening to the pre-game and reading Cassavell ... sounding as though both Adams and Johnson are really “close” and even Altavilla is on track for a return maybe soon. All may need some more innings in AZ to sharpen up but the injury aspect may no longer be an issue.

Lamet also pitched a sim 3 inning game ... so he too may be “closer” than earlier speculation which was late APR / early May.

Yeah.  IL & 40-man so full don't see another choice.  Think O'Grady could still be a taxi guy if just optioned down since a recall from taxi doesn't count against options/40-man like "normal" roster moves do.  i.e. He wouldn't have to wait 10 days to fill in as a taxi squad player; but would for a normal/typical/voluntary recall.

With no Tatis we really need Grisham and Lamet to come back quickly.

Heading into 17 games in 17 days with 4 of our top 5 SP having gone < 5 IP in their first start sure looks like the exact wrong time to bring back RP's who are 1 inning guys that missed most of ST!

Weathers might be available the 1st 2 games and last 2 games of the 17 game stretch out of pen; for the majority of it he is the 6th SP--until Lamet's return.  So I am EXTREMELY leery of optioning Crismatt for 10 days to recall any of:  Pierce Johnson, Austin Adams (photo in dictionary next to "1 inning max effort guy"), or Dan Altavilla who was just bad all ST.  All 3 are > RP than Crismatt medium/long run, but the exact composition of the pen just lacks TWO long guys for this stretch if you do this.

To me, the spotlight is on Tim Hill, but he's the only LH other than Pom, and think Pads would like to have him especially vs LAD.  But I would option Hill for Pierce Johnson.  Foot drag as long as possible (or neccy if an injury or extra inning game occurs) on the other moves.  Re-evaluate roster composition/Bullpen after this stretch.  No stretch longer than 6 games until late May.

Tatis to 10 day IL .... O’Grady recalled.

Tatis to 10 day IL .... O’Grady recalled.

Probably just for 2 games.  When Tatis is back & settled in, I'd eventually like to see O'Grady up & Marcano (despite being huge fan) down.  Marcano is 21 & needs to play every day in minors.  O'Grady is 28 & a backup role player.  I like him as a LH bat with more pop (than Profar) to fill in for Pham, but especially Myers, where I don't really trust anyone else to handle RF.  But this will probably have to wait awhile..

A lot of "ifs" in sequencing but when both Grisham and Tatis are active ... hopefully in 10 days ... would expect both O'Grady and Marcano to be optioned.

Could we make the argument that Marcano is optioned when Grisham returns (I guess the unknown is how O'Grady was looking at the alternate site). Grisham goes to CF ... Pham back to LF ... Profar to #1 super utility / PH. Mateo remains #2 super utility / PH / PR. So for the following 7 days ... are the Padres better with O'Grady as the LHPH and more proficient in the OF or Marcano as the LHPH and with INF skills?

I think we are covered in the INF with Kim, Profar, and Mateo, so IMO O'Grady offers better balance over Marcano. Plus I agree with BConn, that Marcano; while a good story, needs to play everyday. Same with Campusano, as soon as Nola is ready, Campusano needs to go back to the MiLs. And IMO, probably to the same level that they assign Gore and the other high end pitchers so he can work with them as much as possible.
