Happy to have France and Naylor flip flop at DH.
Maybe even give Mateo a shot in LF? He'll be a great deal cheaper than Profar next year.
I think Mateo is one of maybe 5 people in MLB that make that catch last night in LF.
Well ... if it were not for the fact he mis-read the fly ball, took a step back before charging, a diving catch may not have been needed. Speed saved him (sort of like it does for Grisham in CF). That is GOOD ... but not handing out a gold glove just yet.

2021 probably sets up Pham back in LF and DH with France / Naylor.
If Pham is not back ... more likely they find a different starter with some track record of some success. They will be thinking playoffs again 😃 and not ready to “test” LF with Olivares, Mateo, Naylor, or Trammell .. might think differently if they were not considered playoff contenders. That is far away after a winter FA/trade debate.
In 2020 for the last 26 games and the playoffs ... thing we just see some mix and match of Profar, Mateo, and Naylor ...

Well, that's not happening if THIS does.... !
Padres To Acquire Trevor Rosenthal
By George Miller | at
The Padres are close to acquiring right-handed reliever Trevor Rosenthal from the Royals, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Although the deal has not yet been finalized, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports that outfielder Edward Olivares is the return headed to Kansas City in the deal. In addition, a player to be named later will go to the Royals in the deal, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Manny’s OPS is actually 1 point higher...1.027 vs 1.026 at the moment.
We could literally have the #1 and #2 vote getters for MVP if they keep this up.
Start worrying about Tatis and Machado splitting the votes and the East Coast votes going to Mookie Betts.
Less than a month to sort this out ...hopefully both stay hot.
If the award meant what’s it’s supposed to mean it would be Tatis.
Supposed to be Most “Valuable” Player.....not player with best stats.
I personally look at it like.....if you replaced this player with a league average player at his position....how worse off would the team be?
Thats value to the team.
Dodgers still make Playoffs without Betts......The Padres?
Doubt it.
But.....over the years it’s turned into the best offensive player award and popularity added on.
So Betts certainly will be getting votes(as he should) but then again,Fernando has been getting all the hype nationwide this year so maybe?

Quote from fenn68 on August 29, 2020, 2:50 pmActually I think Tatis has a real good chance if he (and the Padres) keep this up for the rest of the season.
The media love him and he has the "it factor" that makes him watchable. Then with his team elevating from a 90 loss season to maybe the 2nd best record in the NL just makes his candidacy more legit. May not be all him but he clearly emerged as the face of the franchise and a national media darling.

Love that!

If the series goes ... if a positive could see the series cancelled which seems to be the common strategy.

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 31, 2020, 8:28 amDodgers won’t admit it but they have to be a bit worried about all of this!
Manny is probably most happy.....remember he said Padres would win WS before the Dodgers do!
