2020 Playoffs

I am typing this with tears of joy. What a performance from the bullpen.

If Tingler isn't manager of the year then it's a shame. I know Mattingly is very deserving but remember when we lost 5 in a row in August and things were looking bleak ? Then they swept the state of Texas in 7 straight games. Tingler deserves a lot of credit for keeping them together. I thought he was crazy the way he managed the staff on bullpen days , like today. But you can't argue with the results. Who among us wanted to see Stammen or Patino today ? What a masterful job today of knowing when to pull and who to put in. 9 pitchers and no one pitched more than 1  2/3 innings. What a great stepping block for the future.

Any word on Clevinger or Lament? I don't see how we can survive a five game series without them. Cannot, CANNOT start Paddock again in the first game. I would rather see Garrett Richards or Adrian Morejon than him. Uh. We really need Clevinger and Lament back to have a chance IMHO.

Hopefully with not starting until Tuesday; hopefully both, but at least Clevinger can go.

Outstanding effort by the bullpen tonight, they certainly did their job!  Look forward to playing spoiler against the Dodgers.  Take the advantage of the rest and come out swinging.

Waiting a long long time to see the Padres win in the post-season.  So happy for the players on this team and the city of San Diego.  Let's keep up the fight!  Go Padres!

I think we all know if there is any way the Padres take the series against the Dodgers Lamet and Sunshine have to be back.

Considering Richards was never used, the question came up that maybe Richards was told that there was a good chance he would have to start against LA.

So just for the hypothetical.  Lets say either Lamet or Clev is healthy enough for Game 1 (reports came out today that Clev might be ready and in line for Game 1).  The other doesnt make the roster.  If Clev goes 1 who starts the rest of the series.

My thought is no one is announced until the end of the game.  If Clev can toss 6+ innings, then game 2 maybe Richards or Morejon (hoping for 4 IP from them).  If Clev gets bounced early, go with Davies and hope for a long outing.  After a few disastrous outings against the Dodgers, I honestly dont see how Paddack can start.

Speaking of, and this is like 30 different friends in one post.  28 man roster, the Padres showed that they will only use the same 10 guys on offense, so no real reason for Ona.  Replace Ona with Gore if for no other reason then it gives you depth if you run into the same situation where a starter struggles in back to back starts.

Who is the "home" team in the divisional series?  Does it alternate or are the Dodgers the home team for all 5 games, if necessary, because they have the higher seeding?

Chris Paddack is who I'm happiest for the most.

He would have been used as the Scape Goat had we lost the series.

He didn't pitch well but he didn't deserve that stigma "forever" either.

If it was a real year the Dodgers will be home team in games 1,2 and 5

Padres home team in games 3,4

You are correct.  Padres will be the home team in games 3 and 4.

I dont feel bad for "The Sheriff."  A bad outing is a bad outing, they happen.  But when you come out and talk about how amazing you are and how youre going to dominate, and then fall flat... I mean hopefully thats humility, but he hasnt gotten some after any other start.  I honestly hope he gets bounced from the rotation in the next round,  He has had bad numbers against he Dodgers.
