2020 In Season Trade ideas

PreviousPage 33 of 43Next

Other than the on field aspects of the add/deletes for 2020 ... Preller has also done a good job of navigating a structure for a workable winter Rule 5 roster given the FA to be and an every decreasing number of minor league players to protect (Arias, Marcano, Lawson, ????)

More important he only added a minimal amount of 2020 payroll and even if they exercised the Moreland option ... only a +$3MM.

As it stands, FA to be: Castro, Profar, Richards, Yates, and Rosenthal. Then put Almonte on as a DFA. 6 potential open slots to cover the return of Adams, Espinosa, and Wingenter plus at least 3 Rule 5 protected prospects.

A number of other “low hanging fruit” if they want to sign a FA or two or like another prospect to protect.

A big trade for a SP should use multiple roster pieces for one .... so even greater flexibility.

Well done on multiple fronts.

Baseball sure is fun again for Padre fans, present looks good and the future looks great

Just think....every player that is playing right now, with just a couple minor exceptions, will be here again next season AND Pham will be back to 100%.

Our 1-9 with Pham in LF has no holes and is "ridiculous"!

Agree. Maybe only a tinkering add as Castro / Profar depart to FA that provides some more coverage for middle INF / CF. Not much (if anything) in the system ready for ML duty in 2021 .... Naylor and Mejia then zip (unless you really stretch the definition of ready) ... and a good chance they go in trades today.

Given the Padres have not yet broken the payroll profile for 2021 ... and Lynn or Clevinger are not extremely expensive ... could see the re-signing of Profar (at a reduced price). INF/OF along with Mateo INF/OF creates a lot of coverage in two bench players which may be needed in a 162 games schedule with the normal level of injuries to the starters. Plus they really like him.

Apparently the Padres HAVE acquired Clevinger from Cleveland.

Going back unknown ...

Holy Smokes!

I’m guessing it’s Patiño and a bunch more!

Holding breath!

Reports are it starts with Naylor and Quantrill

And Arias ... plus more.

Arias makes sense as he’s blocked here and Clev isn’t keeping Lindor.

Good for Arias....May get a shot at starting next season.

Hopefully not much...maybe Hedges?

Apparently top 4 prospects still Padres!
Wow!

Preller is indeed a Rock Star!

Oh my!

Deal includes Cantillo/Hedges/Miller!

That is a lot!
