2020 In Season Trade ideas

Well nothing cleared up in my mind after sleeping.
Did see the note that the Castro deal has gone through and the Padres may go with Nola, Hedges, and Castro with Nola showing up in a lot of different roles.
I don’t see it but additionally which 28 man roster player goes down (or out) with the add of Castro? Getting down to Mateo and Garcia unless they drop a RP but then they have to drop more RP for Altavilla and then Adams. Then in Pham returns? I have already assumed Naylor is done for Moreland and Baez is down for Rosenthal.
I have to believe that any trade for Lynn / Clevinger will have to include a number of current 28 man roster pieces to make all this fit.
I was noted that Hedges has a minor league option ... that would be a shock if exercised.

Yeh, that is the group of prospects I would have as off limits. All three are potentially All-Star quality. Moreover, even if they added Lynn ... in 2022 Lynn, Davies, and Richards will all be gone leaving Lamet and Richards. Padres need Gore and Patino to sustain winning. Campusano sooner than later will be the catcher cleaning out Castro, Hedges, Mejia (maybe all in 2021). Plus even though Abrams seems far away ... given his bat to ball skills and speed ... he may take the Tatis route and be in the Padres OF by 2022.
Preller has said he is building to win now and create an organization that will sustain winning ... that suggests he needs to hold on the key prospects with talent who fit into the natural attrition over the next few years ... with future payroll also in mind.

Didn't we trade away Hunter Renfroe for those reasons? And I can't imagine Gallo is a Gold Glove caliber defender like Renfroe.
Well Preller is “interested” in everyone but if he is serious it probably is in a flip scenario for SP ... Cleveland may have interest since OF offense is a major weakness during a playoff run.

Extrapolating from the first four trades of the current sequence:
All with AL clubs with winning percentages UNDER .400
.382 .... KC .... Rosenthal
.353 ... BOST ... Moreland
.343 ... LAA ... Castro
.389 ... SEA ... Nola, Adams, Antavilla
so using faulty analytical projection skills,
.364 ... TEX ... last remaining AL team under .400 and that means Lynn is the SP the Padres add today! 🤔

I'd rather have Clevinger but the difference is probably the addition of a guy like Campusano or Abrams or Patino.
Of those three I'd rather include Patino.

So much for a slow trade deadline due to this abbreviated season.
Already more moves than anyone would have predicted with more sure to come.

The roster spot(s) will probably work themselves out today with another trade.
If not....I just don't see the need for Garcia any longer with Crone/Profar/Nola able to play all over the diamond.
Naylor can be the LH bat off the bench.
Do we release Garcia if we don't trade off of the 28 man?

Just think....every player that is playing right now,with just a couple minor exceptions,will be here again next season AND Pham will be back to 100%.
Our 1-9 with Pham in LF has no holes and is "ridiculous"!
