2020 In Season Trade ideas
Quote from MrPadre19 on August 30, 2020, 5:40 pmWord is the deal for Castro is not yet finalized.
Thinking if we get Nola it is “instead” of Castro.
Then a big deal involving Clevinger.
Maybe even a 3 way deal involving Texas and Gallo.
Gallo to Clev.....Clevinger to S.D......prospects to Texas?

However, as Fenn mentioned. Preller does have the pension for those 3 team deals, maybe a SEA, SD, TEX deal, where SD gets both Gallo and Lynn, SEA gets a prospect, and TEX gets Nola, Pham, and a couple of prospects.
Couldn’t see why Texas would want Pham for just one season.
Prospects or nothing for Tx IMO.

Quote from fenn68 on August 30, 2020, 6:02 pmApparently the Castro deal is not yet final ... hard see why unless LAA needs medical on Reyes. If that is the the hang up ... maybe the Padres change partners ... pass on Castro and instead get Nola. Not final until final.
Did not LAA and LAD have a deal announced then rescinded ... Peterson as I recall was part of it. Maybe something in the water in Anaheim.

Quote from Randy Manese on August 30, 2020, 6:08 pmMuch rather have Nola than Castro if the cost is still only Reyes. Hadn't heard Reyes was injured but Preller's reputation proceeds him.

Gallo to Clev.....Clevinger to S.D......prospects to Texas?
That makes sense (with some other names involved) since CLEV is in the playoff hunt and really needs some OF offense. I don’t personally care for Gallo ... HR/BB or nothing but does have a decent OBP and can play decent OF but fits a CLEV need.
Might be a deal where SD distributes prospects to both CLEV and TEX since would think the value of Clevenger is > than Gallo. Nola could fit with both teams.
=====
Now get delusional ... Padres get BOTH Clevinger and Lynn and solidify the SP with elite talent for not only the pennant run but for 2021. Add them to Lamet, Davies, and Paddack (or sub in Gore or Patino) ... with the current offense pieces in place ... could justify moving a lot of prospect talent.
Not going to happen BUT this is Preller ........

Nola costs way way more than Castro (FA after the season). Think he has 4 more years of control and can hit.

I believe that Choo is a FA after this year, Gallo would be missing from the OF mix in the trade, and they have also traded away DeShields Jr, and Nazzaro. Im not sure of what they have in the farm system as far as OFers is concerned; however, they might need another OFer for next season.
So I think Pham could offer some value to TEX, and it could be helpful to SD in a salary way. I do agree that it would not got to lessen the prospect level to TEX in the trade though.

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 30, 2020, 7:29 pmTrammell and Torrens going to Seattle in deal for Nola.
Apparently a 7 Player deal....so hold on!

Nola to Padres is official. Players are being informed before it can be announced according to mlbtraderumors.com. Wonder who the Pads gave up. Preller is going for it. Hopefully, AJ gets Lynn next. Go Pads!
