2024 Wild Card Series - Atlanta Braves at San Diego Padres: Oct 1-3
Quote from ultratvfan on October 1, 2024, 11:22 pmQuote from Randy Manese on October 1, 2024, 9:48 pmLargest crowd ever at PETCO and expecting more of the same tomorrow. I have faith in Musgrove but runs are going to be tough to get against ex-Padre Fried. Maybe a 1 run game with the Padres walking it off for the series win. GO PADRES!
Petco Park had many sellouts and big crowds this season. The reason is simple that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out: put a good team on the field and the fans will come.

Yeah as exciting of a win as that was the offensive performance really wasn't great. Higgy's homer was the only hit we got after Smith-Shawver left the game. There were some hard hit outs, but we're going to need a better effort against Fried. He's a different beast.

Quote from MrPadre19 on October 2, 2024, 6:28 amWinning tonight now becomes huge.
Not only does it set us up with Cease to start Game 1 against the dodgers it also gives the team a days rest and keeps the bullpen rested.
As an added bonus we(my heart) don't have to face an elimination game scenario.
Edit:actually it gives us an "extra" day off if we win tonight.
That would really help our pitching.

Agreed.

Quote from ultratvfan on October 2, 2024, 6:17 pmThis is more like it. The Padres own Fried.
A Higgy HR, 2-run double by Manny and 2-run double by Merrill.
Go Padres!
