Lance Lynn gets the start on the mound…this should be a good game. Venezuela got through their pool 4-0 which included Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Israel while team USA went 3-1 in a pool that included Mexico (who they lost to), Colombia, Canada and Great Britain.

Mexico came back to win 5-4 over Puerto Rico and has Japan in the Semifinals.

Some people think the WBC is a waste of time and the risk of injury is too high eg; Edwin Diaz but the players themselves love playing for their country and as a baseball fan /fanatic I think it’s great and have seen every game that has been on TV…even at 3am 😃

Hoping Mike Trout and the boys take care of business tonight and keep it going ⚾️

WOW...Trea Turner with a Grandy to put team USA up 9-7 in the 8th inning and the guy most excited was Daniel Bard who was absolutely terrible and coughed up the 5-2 lead team USA had...he hit Jose Altuve and walked two others to load the bases before he finally got the hook...he faced three batters. Venezuela scored 4 runs in that inning and added a solo HR in the 7th to make it a 7-5 game for Venezuela and the stage was set for Turner, who put his Grandy in the second deck to put the USA up 9-7. The bummer is that Altuve may have a broken hand and that sucks.

Team USA plays Cuba tomorrow in the Semi Finals and a win puts them in the Championship

I don't care what the reason was, ( not starting the quarterfinal)...I have no use for somebody that quits on their team and walks away.

This really has to tick off Melvin and the Padres who were already upset that Darvish was not getting his regular innings and not be stretched out to get ready for the regular season. Another report suggests the handling of Darvish in the WBC may cause a delay in his first regular season start off opening day (and maybe some shorter initial starts).

IF Musgrove is not ready and Darvish is not ready … opening day starter, second game starter may be an interesting call … and with Tatis out and likely Nola and maybe Soto out … not the way to start a championship season … at least it is a 162 game season.
