Nelson Cruz didn't seem completely lost or incapable in RF for the DR yesterday, but it certainly would be an emergency only case with the Padres in 2023. Point is if Nellie can handle a cameo appearance at 40+, then Fernando should be able to adapt quite well given a few repetitions. Don't know if anyone else remembers, but Tony Gwynn was not a good OF when he first started his career but he became very good after a lot or work and dedication. I think Fernando will be fine in RF or even in CF if that is his eventual position.

I agree totally.
If Tatis puts his mind to it, and embraces the change to the OF, he could potentially become the best OFer in MLB IMO. He has the arm, speed, and athleticism, to be the prototypical RFer. And his game should excel in CF as well. Could be a great move for him and SD, depending on his attitude and professionalism.

Hoping he does embrace it.
Now that Manny has been extended he pretty much needs too.
Only thing now that could move him back to the dirt,other than injury,would be Xander or Manny moving to 1B some day.
Even then, with Merrill developing, he may still have nowhere else to play now.

Puerto Rico is up 4-1 in the 5th inning…winner advances and loser goes home …Lindor just scored on a little league inside the park hr…5-1
later tonight it’s USA vs Columbia …USA needs to win to advance

Well I guess Manny, Soto and Cruz will be back sooner than expected. I hope Diaz's injury isn't as bad as it seems.

It's a good lesson for all those coming back early because Korea, Dominican and even Netherlands were supposed to be among the strongest teams. Don't take anyone lightly - baseball is a quirky game. Got to be very lucky and not have major injuries, a la Diaz today, and pitching is very very important.

Especially in one game series...
Also Brett Sullivan hitting clean up for team Italy and having a Hell of a WBC .368 BA is a really good sign for C Depth...
Noticed would have been rule V aka "another" OF I was pushing to maybe pursuit AZ Dominic Fletcher.. looking more and more like he will adjust just fine to MLB also hitting .368 for Italy and batting ahead of Sullivan (Fletcher also homered off Yu today)...
