And just like that Musgrove is Done... per Heyman....

Keep reading AJP!

#LFGSD

5 years/$100M. $20M CBT AAV.

Musgrove must love playing in SD, huge TG discount to play for his childhood team! AWESOME!!

Probably gave up $25-35M to stay in SD.

Additional details on Musgrove's contract. First 4 years, 100% No Trade Clause, and a partial no trade clause for the last season. It looks like he gave them the discount, and got protection for doing so.

As adding bat at this point is the focal point ... might there be a chance the Padres double down on the bullpen and target Robertson from the Cubs ... either alone or with Happ or Contreras (or both).

Roberston is having a very good season ... 37 and a rental at low salary. Strengthen veteran end of game arms pushing the current options for Hader set-up to earlier innings. Basically a deeper pen to cover an already strong SP.

Side: wonder if the Padres ... with a razor thin margin for the Wild Card ... decided not to bet on when (if) Pomeranz and Johnson can return and be effective? At the point that one or two losses that could have been saved might cost the Wild Card slot.

Got the best closer in baseball for absolutely peanuts.... Ruiz I love but his value all came from a scorching 3 months.. unsustainable production so AJP sold at peak value...

That’s a huge departure from Ruiz is Ricky Henderson light.

I am not a big fan of Hader but this trade is okay. I am not that excited about the futures of any of the players we traded. I really like the additional 2 40-man roster spots he opens up. Now they are able to bring up Castillo as well without having to release anyone. The best part is that they didn't have to trade any major prospects who will be needed for Soto.

I just hope Ruiz isn’t gonna be as good as I think he is.

Now we need a bat.

Rickey Henderson lite 😆

Not sure this trade moves the needle in the standings.......

Clearing 40 man spots probably the best thing in the deal.

Although, it does give Clevinger a competitor in " worst hair" in the clubhouse award 🤣

Montas + Trivino to NYY

Holy caca!

Mancini to Astros

Take out the other parts that really have little value in 2022 and the deal is Hader for Rogers while keeping under the CBT.

As a closer NOW Hader is > than Rogers and if he just saves a few games that Rogers (or his successor) would have blown … that may make the difference in making the playoffs.

Then once in the playoffs, the pedigree of Hader gives me a lot more confidence in his closing out a win than Rogers. Short series, each win is critical.

Unless Hader implodes, he is a major piece for making the playoffs and moving in the playoffs.
