Trades June/July/Deadline

I kind of think AJP needs to get Josh Bell (or similar slg type) as quickly as he can (this weekend?) And move Snell (same after a Stellar outing on Sat 😆)... Bird in Hand

Bell + Tatis added to our lineup puts us in the WS convo... what happens or doesn't happen after that is just "it is what it is"..but a "Bell in Hand is worth more than a Soto on the Bush"

What's the price for Bell ? Rosario?

Whether it is Hosmer or Myers ... their remaining money will command at least one top line prospect ... and with Hosmer more prospects. Plus don't expect anything in return except improved CBT space. Even with prospects, not sure anyone is interested in either ... it would be the prospect package so the "45" type prospects are not compelling since most teams have their own at that level.

Preller would have to be certain he could actually get a deal done to replace them or a waste of prospects. Plus will have exhausted some key prospects needed to actually get the upgrade.

Actually would not waste a quality prospect on moving Myers since he is gone after the season even for the CBT space. Prefer to double up and move Hosmer's contract which would be a benefit for 2022 and the next 3 years.

Since both Voit and Lamet probably have little market appeal and adding a prospect to move them again is probably not worth it since both are likely non-tender candidates this winter. If someone asks for them straight up ... yes.

So it boils down in my mind to an aggressive marketing of Snell ... actually someone may want him (and his contract) if the return is not over reaching. Should not need to add a prospect and opens the needed CBT space. That "saved" prospect can now be use for the add.

Then if moving Hosmer is an obsession ... would you move him (and his contract) in a deal that added Abrams and Campusano for some New England clam chowder? With Tatis and Myers back, INF is still covered and so is 1B/DH. At that point a lot of CBT space.

Then what do they have left to add that needed bat? If rental, Gore, Hassell, Wood, Merrill too much ... maybe Knehr or Rosario or one of the high ceiling ACL/DSL types?

If Soto: Cronenworth - Hassell - Wood - Merrill might get it done

I've convinced myself we need to give what it takes to get Soto for 2.5 years.

I'd prefer we somehow keep Gore/Ruiz/Wood....trade anyone else.

If we can somehow add in Bell and give them Hosmer get it done.

LF Ruiz

SS Tatis

3B Machado

RF Soto

1B Bell

2B Cronenworth

DH Voit/Alfaro

C Nola

CF Grisham

I mean.......even if this takes Abrams/Hassell/Campusano/Merrill/Hosmer/Gasser/$$

Take out Hosmer (and $$$)  put in Cronenworth and you have a deal.

Snell to Bosox for Groome + interests me..

Snell to Toronto for C Meza + intrigues me as well

I feel like I'm in the extreme minority, but unless the price is significantly lower than what I expect it to be I really don't want Soto. As good as he is, he's still just 1 guy and even though he has 2 more years of control left they aren't going to be cheap. At a minimum I think you're giving up at least 4 of Abrams, Gore, Hassell, Wood, Campusano, and Merrill plus a few more pieces.

I would much rather see one of them used to move Hosmer and lesser pieces used to pickup a rental bat or 2 plus a bullpen arm. Then if you really want to spend the type of money it would take to keep Soto you can make a run at Judge or Turner in free agency while keeping most of your top prospects in place.

The price for Bell might be lower than earlier thought … not that he is not good but he does not appear to be high on any of the buyer’s wish lists. He has be linked to BOST, TOR but both of them have prioritized pitching.

Assuming WASH wants to get something for a FA to be … might accept a very reasonable offer. Rosario could be it with a “filler” prospect. Maybe Knehr with a “filler” prospect.

Any chance Toronto has a prospect that Washington might want?

3 team deal- Snell to Toronto, prospect to Nats, Bell to us?

Improving our production from 1B, along with Fernandito, might just be enough......

And for ALL you crazies still putting the singular most electric player in all of major league baseball in the OF......ENOUGH!!!!

He is our SS of the present and future. Kim can not hold his jock at the 6.

The only position I'd possibly even consider moving him to would be 1B- still in the infield, in the mix, but a lot less diving onto his left shoulder.

How about Machado, Abrams, Cronenworth, and Tatis around the horn? BIG time offense and stellar defense( Nando can flat pick it- his issues have always been his throws)

Put Alfaro and Campusano behind the dish, even better O.

Use any trade chips to bring in OF help. Let Ruiz get some run as well. He's here- might as well see what we have.

Yeh, that could work for everyone.

Problem with Judge and Turner is probably looking at 10/400...8-10/240-300 in FA and both on the wrong side of 30... Soto +2 yrs are still just entering his prime yrs.. and if we extend him even 12 yrs will be a lot younger than yrs 8 9 and 10 for Judge/Turner...

Way I see it IF we end up with an OF of Soto/Ruiz/(xyz).. and an IF of Manny/Tatis/Crone and (Hosmer or Xyz)

C- Alfaro and DH xyz.. the lineup alone will be so much better no matter who xyz is... and figure we keep 2 of (CJ/Rosario/Merrill/Acosta).. and 1 of (Wood or Hassell)...from position players..

And at least 2 of (Wethers/Knehr/Gore/Lawson)

We could complete our roster with better pieces than (Azocar and Alcantara) like Batten/Kohwley/Kim

BP would be improved just with the depth in system and health for 23 ..even -Rogers..

SP 1(Mus/Yu/??/??/Corbin would be at least solid.. if not = to 22 if we are able to get an arm or 2

What we can't do is keep making Nola type deals for 1 yr wonders or unproven record guys... how good would this lineup be with France at 1B and Trammell (has been mashing the ball like .760 OPS 90ish PAs) in our lineup right now..making our priorities completely different right now.. but oh well.. win some lose some..BUT LEARN from it.. trade for established players and Stars if possible...
