Doubt they could get any future ML talent for Asuaje even if he shows well in the next few weeks. The market for an unproven (over time) singles hitting 2B with just OK defense ... most teams have a few of those types lurking around.
Better option to be marketing Spangenberg who ... because he is a veteran of sorts ... might appeal more. IF Urias eventually arrives ... Asuaje could fall into the reserve role replacing Spangenberg (at a lower cost and with more control ... if that is at all a concern with him).
Aside on Urias ... who I have no issue with being a top prospect .... but he may need to work some stuff out in AAA before he is ML ready. His offense (BA) has been streaky and sitting only around .280 in a hitters league plus his K% is up to 20% (way above his historical numbers). Only 21, so let him clean up his AAA act before burying in the ML. Calling him up before September does little for the Padres or Urias (if he is not ready).

Yeh, Ross probably should skip a start (although the All-Star break should help) ... pitched a lot this season after a couple years of minimal activity. Some speculation that IF the Padres deal Ross (likely they still can) and want a decent return the may have to bundle him with another player / prospect. Basically use him to upgrade for their current prospect to a better prospect.

New "national rumor" has the NYY "interested" in Brad Hand ... of course as we know at this point everyone is interested in everyone, so take this for what is is worth.
RP does not seem like the primary upgrade NYY needs ... should be SP ... and their RP is quite good already but in this era of RP being critical in the playoffs ... maybe. Possible the SP options are not to their liking (at the demand price) and just looking for a potential alternative strategy. Neck and neck with Boston with the loser in the wild card elimination game ... something to avoid if Seattle is the other wild card with Paxton (who is on top form) pitching.
For me without knowing any potential alternative trade returns for Hand, not enthused about the potential for a top return (from a good system) for Hand. They have a lot of pitchers (Padres have a lot of pitchers coming) ... and don't expect them to deal Sheffield ... so not sure their pitchers are better than what the Padres have in the pipeline. Don't like their #1 prospect who is an OF who is a strikeout machine. They would probably want (be willing) to move Clint Frazier (23, corner OF, AAA/ML) and that would be tempting as the centerpiece. Projected to be a good hitter with some speed and power but just OK defensively. He has no real home in NY with Judge and Stanton around.
Don't see this one evolving but here to speculate.

What would it take included with Ross to get Austin Riley from the Braves?
I think they like Camargo and they need a Starter and Riley could be our 3B for some time.
Id be fine giving them Ross and just about anyone not in our top 10.....or Ross/Spangy plus a prospect.
Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Good idea on getting Riley but not seeing immediately the ability to match up the moving parts between teams.
On the Braves side ... they apparently are primarily looking for a RP and secondarily a SP now. However, if they are also looking ahead (and they can afford to because at their core they are young with prospects) Markakis is an OLD FA to be and the catching situation is weak then add that from what I have heard they are OK with Camargo but on sole on him long term (more a super utility type).
Riley (21, in AAA already, #49 on MLB prospect and #3 3B prospect) fits an offensive need going forward (even next year) couple that with their farm system that is good ... but pitcher laden and somewhat short on bats. Riley is their #5 (55 grade) and #8 is Pache (OF with a 55 grade). The rest of their top 10 are all (very good) pitching prospect to support some young arms already arrive. Other than Tatis (which is a non starter) Padres don't really have anything near term offensively on the farm that helps the Braves more than Riley might.
MAYBE a better deal involves Hand or Yates?
As for Ross' trade value (as a two month rental) .... he is not getting much the a casual mention nationally ... would expect he would top out at a decent sleeper prospect in A ball or lower .... sort like the deal for Paddack (hopefully).

As far as a trade goes with ATL, this article on ESPN suggests a LHP Allard as the centerpiece for Hand.

No! (certainly not the centerpiece). Yes he is highly ranked with Atlanta (#4) ... yes he has move successfully to AAA ... BUT is sits with an 88-89 MPH FB and makes his future beyond a #4-5 SP unlikely. He appears to be a Lauer type with a lesser FB. "Smaller" guy ... some concern on holding up over time as a SP. High chance to get to the ML ... low odds of any significant impact ... Wade LeBlanc?
Atlanta has some other (lower ranked in their system) pitchers that I think have some much better upside: Wentz; Toussaint; Muller; or Wilson ... any as the second piece in a Hand deal would appeal but not as the centerpiece.
Then add that adding another prospect pitcher unless he is projected top of the order seems a low priority for the Padres given the depth of quality pitching prospects coming soon. (yes, you can never have enough pitching but Padres may be at the point where getting quality hitters may be more prudent if they what more than pitching).

So one day after the Astros send their Closer to the minor leagues they blow another Save.
You have to believe they are thinking they need a guy like Brad Hand.
They have a guy I’ve always coveted who has no position with the Astros....Tony Kemp.
With no place to play he’s too good to play 2-3 times a week IMO.Anyone think the Stros are calling about our Relievers and if so....what do you think would be a good enough return from them for AJ to pull the trigger?

On another note the guys on MLBXM were talking about the Red Soxand that they should trade for Hand to keep up with the Yanks and Stros.
Their #1 prospect is a 3B Michael Chavis ranked in the top 100.
With young Rafael Devers at 3B where is Chavis gonna play?
I guess they could move him to 1B but with our need of a 3B maybe we can work something out?
