Trade ideas

I'm not too high on Boyd.

He had a good/short run but I might rather take my chances on Morejon.

If he isn't a MOR Starter he(Morejon) could at least be a quality reliever.

Or at least a piece in a bigger move.

Boyd is the type I don't really care about adding...not "enough" of an upgrade over Lucchesi/Quantrill to make the move....just my opinion.

Just depends on what "the Royals" mean by his being over rated.

In other words...they may love him and not want to trade him but if what they consider "overpaying" is still Ok to Aj...then fine.
He isn't gonna way overpay for a Merrifield type player.

Maybe for a TOR starter or a bona fide Cleanup hitter.

If we can "overpay" and still keep Gore-Patino-Abrams then i say go ahead and overpay.

If overpaying means adding one additional top 15-30 prospect.

Just to throw it out there:

Quantrill/Naylor/Weathers/Miller/Potts

Naylor immediately becomes their 1b.

Quantrill immediately their #3 Starter.

Weathers/Miller/Potts boost their upper Farm system and give them a chance at a solid MOR starter in Weathers.

I guess this depends on what other GM's value Q and Naylor at.....but if that still isn't enough I could see doing a different deal incl.Trammell.

As I said...any deal AJ is OK with that doesn't include the big 3.

Quantrill/Naylor/Trammell/Owens?

That's alot but does it really hurt us going forward?

If Grisham hits Trammell is expendable.....

If we move say Hedges to LAA for Marsh

Then can use Trammell + Naylor + Bolanos type package to get WHIT

Could follow that with France + Kinsler + Morejon + Quantrill for BOYD

And culminate with a Myers + Lucchesi + Ornelas + Torrens and Miller  for Johnny Cueto + Posey

Let's. Go!

Hedges for Marsh would be great.

Angels get a guaranteed top defensive Catcher and we get a "possible" future starting outfielder.

I'm afraid though Hedges poor offense outweighs his defense and we'd have to add another OF prospect back....maybe Olivares/Ornelas?

Mr. P,   I like your proposals, & think they are close, but don't see Royals pulling the trigger with the best P back in deal being Q 🙂

Put yourself in the KC fan/GM/owner shoes; are you trading Whit for NO top 100, let alone 50 prospects back?  Royals don't have to deal him, so deal has to be an obvious win to them where they can easily project way more WAR down road than giving up now.

Think any deal has to include Patino or Morejon (guessing if Morejon, then Abrams).  This alone may be deal-breaker.

I'm just observing here, but I have Gore, Trammell, & Patino on the "help us now" i.e. 2020 list...  obviously not Abrams.

IF Pads are making multiple "younger player for older but better player" trades like Pham & Davies, it feels like future Abrams is the piece that's easier to live without than present Trammell.

AJPs plan for a sustainable winner has finally reached its go for it moment. He will trade away some prized prospects and talented young depth this offseason to open the contention window. He will add talented vets to a very talented young core. Machado, Paddack, Gore, Patiño, Tatis, TT, Lamet, Grisham, Campusano are young talents that will still be here after this offseason. AJP will land a star maybe two and some solid vets to improve 2020 club. I have tons of faith in AJP, his scouting and develop team to replenish the farm after he deals away some prospects this offseason. Look at their history and what they’ve accomplished building a number 1 farm with a DEEP pool of talent. The Padres have been unbelievably good at identifying young talent and developing it under Prellers tenure.  We KNOW AJP can build a farm, why don’t we have faith he can restock it? 2020 is the year we cash in some prospect capital and see if AJP can build a winning ML roster. My money is on the Padres making the playoffs in 2020.

Whit about to be dealt... Stay tuned .. Pads appear to be the team

Could see the possibility of a three team deal where NYM gets Marte, SD gets Nimmo, and PIT gets prospects mainly from SD?

I know some will say why dont we just get Marte for ourselves. Well, Nimmo is much cheaper than Marte, only $1.7M estimated arb number for 2020. Younger than Marte and controlled for 3 seasons instead of 2. Nimmo has pretty even splits for both LH and RH pitching and like Marte can handle all 3 OF positions, but is probably best for RF.

An OF of Pham, Margot/Grisham, Nimmo should be really good both for OBP and going and getting the ball on defense.

Definitely interesting if true... the haul for Royals might be hard to stomach.  XTRA 1360 just interviewed Preller and states they had something working last night but it fell through and to not expect any deals.

Hope you’re right Henry but Preller seems to be saying “no”?

Who is reporting this?

Merrifield is currently the most expensive trade target on the market. Patino would just be the starting point.

We could possibly do that three team for Nimmo using lesser prospects but I don’t know why we would. He definitely has the OBP we are looking for but somehow he still manages to strike out a lot. I also wouldn’t want a player with bulging disks in his neck. Maybe replace Nimmo with Conforto?
