Trade ideas

PreviousPage 62 of 158Next

In the world of supply and demand looking like Preller is in a better position in getting value for Hedges (or even Allen / Torrens as a support piece in a deal).

D’Arnaud signs with Atlanta ($16MM/2 years) after Grandal signs the big deal with CWS. Still quite a few teams that need (want) catching upgrades and on the FA ... Chirinos, Gomes, and Maldonado are not all that appealing.

D’Arnaud is not a good fielder (ask the Mets) but can hit at least in the .240 range. Mets DFA’d him last May ... passed through LAD ... signed with TB and had a good streak. That is a very, very good contract for his history ... quality supply must be really viewed as low and both ATL and CWS had to go for their guys early and pay up.

Last season D’Arnaud’s WAR was 1.6 while Hedges was 1.4 .... but Hedges was the better WAR over the past 3 seasons. For a team with a big catching need and some offense ... Hedges may be worth a good piece in return considering he also is low cost and comes with control.

Not quite the same but getting a quality trade done may be enhanced with the inclusion of Allen or Torrens as the 2nd or 3rd piece ...

Preller working from more strength ... and that is good.

In seeking a LHH CF/OF option should the Padres pursue an “under the radar” trade option .... Adam Haseley form PHIL.

Haseley is a 23 year old (6 years control) plays CF and had a good rookie season after arriving mid-2019: 266/324/396. Vs. RHP 283/337/441. #8 overall pick in the 2017 draft and a top prospect ... so some quality pedigree.

Why would PHIL move him ... well two of the OF will be locks in 2020 ... Harper and McCutcheon. Good chance they utilities Kingery in CF but other OF are Bruce (LHH), Williams, and Quinn. Chance they move McCutcheon back to CF to make room for Bruce’s bat in LF. Basically, if the PHILS want to win in 2020 .... Haseley is a very good trade chip to fill a bigger need.

What would the PHILS want ... looking to bolster the SP/RH. If the Padres add Ryu ... could make Lucchesi a trade candidate. Probably more moving parts.

Padres get that LHH CF at a low salary / long control for 2020 which keeps money in the pocket to use to pay Ryu (or any other FA or trade add). Also allows for Trammell to be given the maximum development time.

I like Grisham from Milw better.

No idea if they’d trade him?

Meadows for me.. And dont really care if it cost us 3 or 4 top 10 specs tbh.. Starting with Edwards + Patino ++

Oh i’d take Meadows over these guys also.

But he’s already an established budding superstar.

We were suggesting “under the radar” guys.

I just don’t think Meadows is under the radar.

His CFing Rays Buddy would be a nice get to be honest

Add Brian O’Grady to the list.

The Reds just picked up Martini and DFA’d O’Grady who was just their Minor League player of the year.

28 homeruns,30 doubles and 20 steals  last season in Louisville.

.359 OBP and .909 OPS.

LH hitter.

No idea about his defense.

How old?

Would any who are really "under the radar" be an upgrade? I bet if you gave any GM a choice of any of those guys vs Margot, its Manny every time. Even as a platoon, why would they give those guys more ABs than Manny?

As a depth acquisition I'd be all for any of them. Just thought the idea was to get a player who can upgrade the position substantially.  Most UR guy I can think of would be Mallex, but he's not really UR.  JBJ continues to look like perfect fit.  With he and Mallex the odds of a good year in a semi starting role are way better than fringe guys mentioned.
