I think; depending on the article, you can interpret it two ways. One, it seems that SD wants to bring in "competition" for Urias. Two, they imply that Urias "could be" used as a trade chip to upgrade an OF spot. So I think its possible that SD does start the season with Urias at 2B, and I would not have a problem with that, as I like his type of OBP bat. With that said, I can see if Urias is needed to be included in a package to get the LHH corner OF, it sounds like AJP wont hesitate to include Urias.

I see the Padres getting their OF upgrades through their pitching trade chips bundled with their OF pieces. Pitching more needed than 2B prospects.

Garcia is more valuable as Utility/PH and the other two were part of the problem last .......so probably not part of the solution this year.

So if not Urias I'm thinking they bring someone in on a short deal to bridge gap to Edwards.

Someone like Kendrick/Sogard/Gennett maybe?

Gennett was actually my pick in your guessing thread as the 2B add. I went and looked, yes he had a terrible 2019. But for playing in the great hitters ball park of CIN, his home/away splits were very even, and the power numbers barely were better in CIN so his bat should play in any ball park. And being LHH he has a .298/.339 career line v. RHP. He did make $9.78M last season, I dont see SD spending that much money on him, but if he is willing to take a incentive laden contract could be a good fit, even if he plays part time with Urias.

They could use an upgrade at C, and possibly a SS should they not resign Iglesias. Obviously the acquisition of Castillo would hurt a lot.

SD gets Castillo and Galvis and CIN gets Lauer, Urias or Margot, Patino, Arias and probably one more prospect.

Agree that Patino should be close to untouchable, but to get a 4 year controllable ACE, I would trade Patino who could be an ACE. I just wonder if the package back to the Reds is too light, even including Patino.
