So the rumor I saw was Mazara and Hernandez for Luchessi and Blake. Kind of a trade of our surplus for their surplus. So when someone suggested adding the Myers and Odor component, how did they suggest the money would play out?
Myers is owed $68.5M, and Odor is owed $37M, that includes the buyouts for both in 2023. I dont think TEX is going to take on $31.5M for Blake and Luchessi. So is SD including some money to offset the difference in Myers and Odor? Or is SD going to include additional prospects to offset some of the money?
To me the deal made some sense prior to the inclusion of Myers and Odor. Now it doesnt seem to make sense for TEX.
If I were TEX, I would suggest Myers, Urias, Luchessi, and Blake with $15M in cash for Odor, Mazara, and Hernandez.
That was the suggestion. Same deal as originally proposed, just with Myers, Urias and Odor added. IMO it just kills the deal. It changes the whole thing into a salary dump exchange with Urias added to offset some money. I wouldn't do the deal either way. I don't think Mazara is worth Lucchesie. I also would not give up Urias to offset half of Myers contract.

If we are going to trade Urias it needs to be in a deal for Whit Merrifield.
Or Lindor.
Otherwise we're gonna see Kinsler at 2b barring another deal.
I would still like to see what Urias will do in 2021-22....but if we can pry away Merrifield I say lets get it done.
The Royals would be smart to bring in a haul for this guy....he's no spring chicken and they won't be contending in the next 2-3 seasons.
He's locked up until 2023 and lead MLB in hits and triples for Gwynns sake!
Why aren't we talking more about Whit?
i know it would be alot but what would a deal for him look like?

He might be the only thing selling tickets in KC. If he goes on the market KC will not keep it a secret. They will try to start a prospect bidding war. I would no want to even be in that, much less win it! Some team somewhere will probably be willing to overpay. I can see KC saying "Any deal will have to start with Patino and Campusano." Teams with quality players to trade have not accepted the new value of prospects. With every decent free agent now making $20-$35 million per year, prospects are worth hundreds of millions of dollars in quality savings. Try telling that to KC though.
I think we did our rebuild at just the right time. There are not going to be any huge prospect hauls reviewed in trades except maybe at the trade deadline. Short rentals especially have lost most of their value compared to quality prospects.

In the TEX trade scenario, Odor becomes the 2B. His BA and OBP are not great, although he did hit 30HRs and drove in 93 runs. How is his defense? And what is Tingler's thoughts on him, he would know well.

While cruising the baseball internet, just read where MIA might have interest in Castellanos. MLBTR suggest that Castellanos could get 4/58 or $14.5M per year. In same article it mentions that Castellanos might not have interest in MIA due to them being in a rebuild and Castellanos having been waylay-ed in non-playoff hell in DET. Plus it mentions that MLBPA could pressure MIA due to lack of ML payroll.
So, could MIA be a possible dump spot for Myers? Not exactly sure what MIA needs, so not sure what to propose. So maybe Myers, 2 prospects, and $16M for Wei-Yin Chen.

Odor is not good enough.
I’d prefer to stick with Urias.
And I think I would trade Patino and Campusano for Merrifield.
We’re talking about “four” years of the ML hit leader at 2b for a couple prospects?
I am excited to see what Patino will do when he gets his chance.....but if you can get a ML All star for 4 years you do it.
I’d give Urias/Patino/Campusano + for him to be honest.
Urias wouldn’t be needed if we have Whit.
Campusano is still 2 years away and we have Catchers.
Patino could hurt but we have pitching on its way and if we trade for Whit I expect us to still sign Stras or Wheeler or another TOR starter.

That Merrifield trade is what a team does when it is 1 player away and it would reset the market for us. What if we lose out on Strasburg and Wheeler? What if we cannot sign a replacement OF, or if the one/s we sign do not work out? We will never be able to make another trade. If we try to get Syndergaard? They will demand Gore, Trammell and Edwards. If you did it once why won't you do it again?
Everyone uses past trades as a reference. That's how the Mets screwed themselves at the trade deadline this year. How can they demand multiple top 50 prospects for Syndergaard when they gave up no top 100 prospects to get Stroman? I don't see Merrifield as the end of the road, therefore I don't see him being worth a huge haul. Especially when we have a prospect who projects to be the same type of hitter already on the team. 2B is not really a need right now. If we are going to make a trade, let's get an ACE or a quality OF.

Whit is so good but If I am doing Patino + Campusano + Urias + I want Lindor/Bryant good... Whit is a 3-4 WAR dude.. Lindor + Bryant are 4.5-6+ WAR Big difference..
With that said I would do Morejon + Bolanos + Ona + Hunt + Urias and Lauer for Whit
