It is still likely that we will pick up at least 1 more OF this off season. Even so, we have Olivares on the 40 man roster. He is pretty close to ready I believe, and he could be brought in as a defensive replacement in an emergency.

I prefer Jankowski and am sad to see him go. Martini probably won out over Janky specifically due to his higher OBP. For a team that has historically struggled to get on base, I think that makes sense.
That said, Martini is far from a roster lock. In fact, I'd be surprised if he's on the 40-man come Rule 5.

Am I the only one who would prefer Jankowski over Martini?

Just a wild guess here but Martini aint anywhere near our 26 man roster... in 2020..
OF-- NEW/NEW/Margot/Franchy/Renfroe/Naylor... would be my guess (If they carry 6 or if the current guys I listed are still here) -- the NEW/NEW is almost 100% guaranteed.. 2 new OF ers

Trammell's approach is already > than Margot/Renfroe/Myers.. so??? and remember he was banged up all yr and tweaked his swing (Pads did) after acquiring him, as he got healthy and comfortable with his approach his results went from pedestrian to outerwordly... and his OBP wasnt bad to begin with.. I can see the young man having a meteoratic rise like Tatis Jr and break camp (over Franchy for example) with the Pads or play at AAA and then get a call up early or in Sept. (remember Sept call ups starting 2020- limited to only +2 (28 Sept roster) now.. likely Pitchers

Do expect Martini to be DFA sooner than later .... hard to see a minor league FA in his late 20s hold a spot with a tight 40 man .... a lot of “Martini” types available for AAA non-roster roles if needed.
Start 2020 (until a trade / FA creates a bump) of Myers - Margot / Cordero (L) - Renfroe / Naylor (L) that is 5 with Trammel / Olivares in the minors for a mid-season call-up if needed. Going with 5 since see 2 INF reserves ... Garcia (LHH) and Kinsler (just because) or France (1B vs some LHP).
