They have no 2B to trade to us. Frasier for the OF would be no good to us unless/until we get rid of Myers. So no, they really don't have anything we need.

NYY say they're going to go internally to cover SP needs, but it's situations like this that should drive up the value of our SP. Any team that needs it has to be looking at the Pads. At least leverage against Red Sox who need it too.
That being said, at a glance, their Farm is a bad match for our needs at the top. P heavy & distant (young Intl) OF prospects.

Maybe now is the time to unload Myers to the Yanks. I presume they are already over the cap.
Padres: Frazier + eat 3/4 of Myers this year
Yankees: Myers + L/Q + Bolanos + 10 mil (Padres pay)
I am not very good at these things but I imagine the Yankees say no.

It will all be a benefit to the Padres as long as these kids keep performing.
Gore and Patino are one thing....but if guys like Baez/Morjon/Bolanos/Weathers/Cantillo and even a few others all keep doing what they've been doing...or even better,"someone" is gonna come calling.
I like some of the more obscure guys too...like Omar Cruz for one example.This kid has 100 minor league innings with 136 K's and only 80 hits allowed......and isn't even recognized as a prospect.Ever heard of Ethan Elliott?
Just can't wait to see what happens on the Farm this year.
Plus another draft coming with high picks.

Ben and Woods were gaga over Reggie Lawson-- easy velo and movement.. at ST... they were commenting on how you turn to the right and see some guy and go wow havent seen that type of talent around ST for Pads ever, and then they turned left and see yet another dude that looks even better... love it
I think we will see a late ST trade or 3.. from AJP to purge some things-- I mean we could literally have 9 OF'ers who are capable of playing in the MLB at various levels between MLB and AAA... Nothing wrong with pruning the tree a little bit (to say 7)...

With all that said== what can we realistically get for Perdomo + Guerra + Naylor?
and what area SP/C/ other (if we get say 1 MLB proven or Almost ready player)?

just thinking out loud here but would a Hicks for Myers swap be all that bad-- Hicks is under contract til age 36 (2026) at roughly the same amount owed Myers (2022) for 1/2 the time-- if you look at their career numbers bs lefty/righty and overall they are almost identical with Myers having the greater Power/Speed and Hicks the better overall game at the plate-- Hicks is also Switch hitter and can easily fill that 4th OF role -- So we are probably getting a little better WAR overall from Hicks during length of contract -- but with P desperate NYY -- what about Perdomo + Myers + Hedges for Hicks + Anthony Siegler (Catching spec, low minors)... no cash. no specs from us thoughts?

They raved about Patinos bullpen too. Guess he smashes the glove. Heard that now from multiple people viewing him up close. Some serious pitching talent coming up.
I think a lot of prospects will enjoy significant development this year. Can't wait.

In ## thread, I ranked 1-41 & the thing that stands out most about system is the depth... just goes on & on. One thing I didn't mention there is we have like 4 P's from last year's draft who either didn't or barely pitched professionally in draft year... get benefit of all those guys getting rolling.

Interesting idea. But I feel like he blocks young guys, still isn't cheap, and is on books for even longer than Myers. Think Pads want more choice about where to re-allocate the $ (though I was all for "re-allocating" it to Betts 🙂
