The LAA have just signed Castro to a 1 year deal for $6.85M, so I guess we can stop shopping Hedges to LAA as part of the package for Marsh. Sorry Fenn.

Time to downgrade my return ... Hedges to Texas for a PTNL
Twins/Rangers/Astros/Pirates all need Catchers.. If Cherinos signs with us Hedges value goes way up.. If Cherinos signs with one of them Hedges value still good...

It would be helpful to know what Hedges value actually is.
We all know what a guy like Grandals value is...but what about the best Defensive Catcher in baseball who is also the worst offensive player in baseball?
I'm very curious as to what teams in need of a Catcher think about this kind of option.

I think Hedges is worth a 80-150 spec

If Hedges was that valuable, he would already have been traded. Im thinking Hedges value in baseball is just slightly better than Myers. And if Myers salary was equal to that of Hedges, Myers would be double the value of Hedges.

I don’t understand the logic on this Booster. Why would Hedges be dealt already if he was worth 80-150 spec? I have no idea what Hedges trade value is because he’s such an extreme specialized player, but going into the offseason I pegged him as having 100-150 spec value so pretty much in line with Henry’s thinking. There haven’t been many trades yet this offseason, but we are still waiting on a big fish in Donaldson who is likely holding up multiple moves for teams involved in the 3B market. The Dodgers, Braves, Nats, Twins, Rangers, Rockies and Cubs are all likely impacted by Donaldson’s decision so other moves are in a holding pattern. Happens every offseason and with FA going later and later into the new year trade season gets delayed later and later.

Because, if someone offered AJP a top 80-150 prospect, AJP would have jumped on that offer. So, apparently MLB does not agree with your and Henrys assessment of Hedges. Let put it this way, right now Campusano is listed as prospect #86 on MLB.com. Would you trade Campusano for Hedges? Didnt think so, so why would another team trade for Hedges for a prospect similar to Campusano? They wouldnt.
Basically all of baseball is telling us on here that Hedges has no value to another team, because he cant hit water if he fell out of a boat in the middle of SD Bay.
The only reason we like Hedges on this site, is because we drafted him, and he came up in our system. Be honest, if Hedges was on the Marlins, would you really want to trade for him? You would think the same thing as baseball. Great Catcher, but if Hedges was in the AL, I would think about using the DH for Hedges instead of the pitcher. Thats why Hedges has no value outside of SD, besides being a throw in piece in a bigger trade.
And here is the saddest part, Hedges cant understand this himself and why he needs to get better at hitting. And that is why he needs to go!

Unfortunately after Hedges was drafted and while in the minors I equated him to Jeff Mathis ... and seem for once to be spot on. Mathis a decade earlier came out of HS with the same profile (hype) ... great defense that could play in the ML immediately but needs to work on his hitting. Mathis made the ML and for the past decade has bounce around from team to team as a defensive first back-up because he just can't hit. Seeing that as Hedges' fate coming soon ... and will have to see how (if) he can handle that journeyman role.
For me his only chance is to find a team with powerful offense and no acceptable catcher where his defensive only profile would not be as much an issue.
27, 3 years control, 3 arbitration years, and one of the worst hitting catchers in MLB ... not a profile that I would bet on to suddenly turn around. There are other catchers who are not bad defensive catchers but also can hit that teams apparently prefer.
