Quote from fenn68 on December 12, 2019, 12:18 pmReed was the PTNL to OAK for Profar ... think we have yet to conclude either the TB (for Pham) or MILW (for Grisham).

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 12, 2019, 12:37 pmYes....I just didn't remember seeing that we included a ptbnl in that deal...only TB.
Anyway....I've always rooted for the Florida Gator Reed.....still will.
Guys a freak of an athlete that didn't play baseball regularly until very late in his teens.
Was a hockey player believe it or not.
Hope he succeeds in Oak town.

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 12, 2019, 12:57 pmI'm thinking at this point there is no player I would want Preller to trade Gore or Patino for.
I know this isn't surprising or a revelation but thinking about the rotation for 2021 I can't see any reason
to move either of these guys.
Gore-Patino-Paddack-Lamet-Davies
I mean.......We could literally be 15 months away from the best Padre rotation ever!

Quote from JasonE135 on December 12, 2019, 1:28 pmAbsolutely. When you have incredible pitching talent you keep it and let it grow. That rotation of Gore, Paddack, Patino, Lamet and Davies can become the envy of every other major league team. That is why everyone tries to demand Gore or Patino in every single trade.
Lets just keep Myers. At this point we are looking at trading far more value than the money we would recover.

Quote from 3fingersplit on December 12, 2019, 1:35 pmGeez.....I have been saying this for months.....you DON'T trade away your young starting pitching....think of the Braves when they had Smoltz, Glavine, Avery and then added some guy from the Cubs named Maddox....those guys ran the table for years and the Braves were ALWAYS in it.....This Future Padre rotation could be the same and if it is....buy your tickets because once they get rolling it will be the hottest ticket in MLB playing at Petco

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 12, 2019, 1:35 pmWe also have really just completely disregarded Baez and Morejon.
Surely we haven't completely moved on from them as Starters?
It seems like they have just been included as "throw ins" in everybodys' trade ideas.
I wonder what the Padres plans are for them for 2020-2021?
Strictly bullpen pieces?....surely not.

Heard yesterday (Preller I think) that both Baez and Morejon will be worked as starters next season. Guessing in the minors and on a call-up as needed basis.
Given the mid to upper rotation ceiling of multiple near term prospects ... and a bit depends on how they do in 2020 and how the Padres are doing ... could be some trade deadline move of Richards, Davies, or Lucchesi?
Given the high cost of any kind of SP ... should get a good return for 2 months of Richards with only $2MM due .... a better return for Davies with 2021 under control and cheap even in arbitration .... and an even better return for Lucchesi with 3 more years of control just going into arbitration. Not likely all three but one or two with Quantrill, Gore, Patino, Morejon, Baez, Bolanos, and Lawson all primed for ML runs after 2020 in AA/AAA.
If the Padres are positioning themselves for 2021 and beyond ... making those moves may be smart.

Quote from MrPadre19 on December 12, 2019, 3:16 pmSo where do you suspect Morejon and Baez to pitch?
EP or Amarillo?
I just don’t want any of these guys in AAA but they can’t all pitch in Amarillo.
Gore-Patino-Morejon-Baez-Margavicius would be some kind of rotation in AA
