If they want to keep some small amount of hope for the division alive they need a sweep. Getting set up for the playoffs might be the bigger focus at this point. To that end I want to see strong efforts from our starters this series. Hopefully Bogaerts can also come back in time to get into a couple of games before the regular season ends.

Report is that Bogaerts will be back on Monday.

Oops! I made a mistake. This is actually game lineup.

Unbelievable. They were beaten by the White Sox. What is wrong with this offense. They had opportunities and could not produce more than 3 runs.

I just think this is who we are: bad offense, mostly solid SP( omitting Cease), good bullpen.

Just wondering if Preller will have the courage to blow this thing up when they go one and done in Chicago? My guess, after keeping Cease, Suarez, and Arraez, would be no( had he gotten assets for these 3 at the deadline, one would be more inclined to offer hope)

The Sunday game I will be in attendance at Rate field. Then follow up with a Tuesday night game at Wrigley Field. First trip to Chicago, except layovers at O'Hare.

I look forward to some good weather, a couple of cold beers, and hopefully a laugher victory for the brown and gold!

That’s awesome…..enjoy!

I still need to get to Wrigley at some point.

Saw original Yankee Stadium and I’ve been to Fenway….but not Wrigley.

Honestly Mr. P, an afternoon in the sunshine, in the bleachers, at Wrigley, with a beer in one hand, and a dog in the other, is honestly one of the best baseball moments a fan can experience.

I hope you're able to get there sometime soon👍🏽

Never was going to deal those guys while still in a playoff run (besides would have gotten very little for the three as 2 month rentals).

Not sure what "blow up" suggests but near a zero chance of Cease, Arraez, Suarez, O'Hearn, Diaz, Iglesias, Hart returning as FA/declined options .. and only 50/50 they re-sign King. They might not have enough players to fill out 13 position players and have to scramble for SP to fill out the staff. Preller will not have to "blow up" the team ... it will "blow itself up". Throw in expected payroll issues ... no major adds (except maybe King).

2026 will boil down to the big money / long term / no trade clause players being better than in 2025 and some luck with the fill in pieces. If they do ... a legit shot at the playoffs.

Side note: going back to pre-season projections ... the Padres are EXCEEDING expectations for wins ... albeit frustrating to watch ... still make the playoffs ... has to be some good in that.

For sure better than expected, compared to last years squad( 2024 was our year! We had the best team, playing the best ball. ...then we choked!!! MASSIVELY!!!) so making the playoffs will be fun. But there's an old adage in sports: you're either competing for a championship, or rebuilding so you can compete for a championship. The 2025 SD Padres are not a championship caliber team( are there any prognosticators out there that have us as WS favourites?) therefore, they need to be re- building to be a championship team in 2026.

How to do that? Aquire assets, either via FA or trades( for expiring contracts, veteran FA's, valuable assets that might be redundant). Am I missing anything? Since we don't have money to spend, moving assets is( and was) the way forward. Regardless of time left under contract, all 3 of our top FA's would have brought back....something, which is certainly better than the nothing they will get when the season ends in 4 weeks. And I'd much rather have a player already playing minor league ball than a comp pick.

Fermin( although at a heavy price) and Laureano are both examples of building for a run next year, whilst still allowing us to compete this year. Miller's acquisition( at an ABSURD price) is a difficult one to assess just yet. If he becomes an SP, then okay. But if he stays in the bullpen, really bad deal.

AJ, with no money or assets to trade, might have a rougb wintee and us, a rough2026

One thing is for sure, we have become a little spoiled, let's remember all those years when we wished our guys could be playing in October, now is almost a reality year in and year out, sure I get upset sometimes, but also I appreciate what we have now.

The Padres fall to 4 games back. The Dodgers beat two of the Giants best pitchers Webb and Ray, who are a lot better than CWS Martin, who the Padres lost to.

I said that the Padres would not play the Dodgers until the NCLS. But, if they drop to the 6th seed, they would play the Dodgers in the WC round. The Padres lead over the Mets has been reduced to 3 games.

The Padres offense needs to wake up.
