Campusano is reportedly in Pittsburgh.

Added to the roster ... Conner Joe optioned.

Guessing they wanted a strong RHH up against a couple of LHP the next few days.

Also, Cronenworth is going on a rehab with the ACL Padres.

Joe was terrible in his few trips to the plate, so low bar for Campusano.  After moving Pivetta to the Yankee series, Padres need Vasquez to go 5 or more so they can set up tomorrow as a "bullpen" game, if necessary.  If Vasquez can go 5+, they still have Adam, Morgan and Suarez to finish out the game plus whoever is available from yesterday.  That sets it up for Kolek to open Sunday's game, followed by Bergert and whoever didn't pitch on Saturday.  This seems like a good strategy since Padres bats should be able to sweep this series.  Like the fact that Tatis is back and gaining more confidence in Gonzalez.

Can't wait until we lengthen the line-up with all our regulars back.  Tatis-Arraez-Machado-Merrill-Bogaerts-Cronenworth-Sheets/Campusano-Heyward/Lockridge-Diaz/Maldonado looks like it can get the job done offensively and great contributions from Iglesias, Wade and Gonzalez off the bench.  I know that's 2 too many position players, so possibly Heyward, Maldonado, Gonzalez and Lockridge on the bubble - depends on what Campusano does on this road trip.  Strongest bench we've had in a long time.  GO PADRES!

A lot rides on Campusano's hitting over the next two days ... if he delivers vs LHP he may just stay up.

Then when Merrill (Monday?) is activated the odd man out is ... Gonzalez? Would have Lockridge / Wade (L) to back up the OF and set-up a Campusano / Sheets (L) DH. Gonazlez has been "nice" but has not shown the impact hoped for.

Tougher call when Cronenworth is activated (Friday?) and if Campy is hitting. Cronenworth started at 2B in AZ today and had a hit.

Game 2 Lineup
1. Tatis RF
2. Arraez 1B
3. Machado 3B
4. Bogaerts SS
5. Campusano DH
6. Gonzalez LF
7. Iglesias 2B
8. Lockridge CF
9. Maldonado C

Vasquez P

I am glad to see Tatis back in the lineup.

I am surprise to not see Sheets in the lineup after the game he had yesterday. I know it's because of the LHP the Padres are facing.

I hope we see Campy do well. Wouldn't it be better as catcher to give both Maldonado and Diaz a break?

Kolek is scheduled to pitch Sunday. Pivetta is moved to Monday against the Yankees. I wonder what the corresponding move will be. My guess is the Bergert will bew optioned.

Might just want Maldonado to catch Vasquez given his reputation for handling pitchers (and Vasquez needs that).

Another weather delay but should clear up by 2pm our time.  Looks like clear weather for the next 2+ hours before it starts to rain again.  Probably get most of the game in...hopefully we'll have the lead by the time the next round of showers hit.  GO PADRES!

Machado.....what the hell was that? Never seen such a half assed throw my entire life.
