Regardless of whether or not that was a " go on contact", that ball didn't travel 45 feet. Bad base running man.
If the call was a "contact" play ... Lockridge is off when the bat hits the ball with no time to wait where the ball goes.
Having said that ... the "contact play" never seems to work for the Padres yet they use it a lot.
I guess a question could be why they stopped Lockridge at 3B rather than putting the pressure on the LAD to throw him out ... didn't see the play (or where everyone was) but Lockridge is a speedster so in a tie in the 9th might be worth the gamble considering the lack of hitting for the Padres.

Stayed up for every pitch.....shouldn't have.

Okay, anyone else tired of Pages's glares at the mound? This guy doesn't have the first f'ing clue about baseball. A 90mph cutter, with someone on 1st? No man, no one is trying to hit you! It's called pitching inside. Ask some Dud faithful about a guy named Drysdale!( who would plant one in his earhole if he glared at him like that!)

I think he knows is not on purpose, but still, does that to try to intimidate the opposing pitcher, kind of a mind trick of some sort.

Padres struggling but all in perspective ... a number of other "good teams" are in the same boat:
NL West has LAD winning 5 in a row while: SF (lose 4 in a row); SD (lose 3 in a row); AZ (lose 3 in a row); while COLO WINS 4 in a row!
Then look at two of the big money teams leading their Divisions: NYY lost 6 in a row; NYM lost 5 in a row.
At least the Padres are losing to a team that is viewed as one of the best in MLB ... the others are losing to ????
Grasping at straws here but need to keep positive.
Could be WASH (with all the great Padres prospects) have lost 11 in a row.

At the end, we can say they are not getting blowed out, the last two games they had the go ahead run on base, late in the game, still I have no idea why Lockridge wasn't sent, a ball at the wall, he must be sent, knowing Iglesias (who we don't know how well he is doing after getting hit by pitch) and Díaz, who has failed in numerous clutch situations. I guess, let's beat tonight their best pitcher not in the IL and reset things. 🤷

I'm trying to remember that they have played 19 games in the last 20 days and have 7 more before their next off day. It's a pretty brutal stretch to try to navigate with some key guys missing. Still, some of their weaknesses such as a lack of depth and an inability to handle left handed pitching have been exposed. They've also blown a few games and don't seem to be doing some of the little things on the margins that they were doing so well earlier in the year. Add it all up and it's been a frustrating stretch. Just have to hope they can right the ship before they drop too much further.

Man even when they win they find a way to make it stressful. 5-0 and Dave Roberts is essentially conceding the game then we get all the drama and end up having to use 3 pitchers to hold on in the 9th.
Bogaerts with his best game of the season. If he can get back on track at the plate it would be huge. Hopefully Tatis and Johnson are ok.
