Otherwise, I don't see help from anywhere else.
Unfortunately, not until next week against the Nationals.

Needed a CF since Brooks PH for Lockridge and Wade was already used as PH (and then SS) for Iglesias ... so put Johnson in CF (he did get a hit).

Quote from fenn68 on June 18, 2025, 5:26 amSo trying to step away for the ledge after an ugly week ... month ... for the Padres.
- somehow the Padres are still in a Wild Card slot ... with 2 fewer losses than the first out teams.
- Padres are on track for 88 wins (about what was projected before the season) and currently playing without Merrill, King, Darvish ... their returns should upgrade the team.
- LAD are on a pace for only 96 wins ... well below the pre-season projections of well over 100 wins. Frankly few (if any) thought anyone could unseat the LAD as NL West champions ... so from an end state view ... on plan.
Less than half way through the season ... unknown impact of mid-season upgrades ... unknown of impact of players returning from injury or new injuries (for both the Padres and other contenders) ... unknown of both "under performers" and "over performers" in the second half. What we do know is the Padres are in a playoff spot now ... the future is not certain either good or bad ... so staying engaged with hope ... that's baseball.

We simply can not compete with them this season.
Hopefully we axe them from the playoffs like we did in 2023 when they were clearly better as well.
Luckily the only goal remains the same....make the Playoffs...LA bought the depth they need to still win with top players injured.
Was never expecting to win the Division anyway...just be better than Stl,Mil,Cin,Az & Atl and we should be fine.
Anything can happen in the playoffs.

Regardless of whether or not that was a " go on contact", that ball didn't travel 45 feet. Bad base running man.

I did not. Morejon would have been the better choice. Isn't Suarez a fast ball pitcher and the Dodgers love the fast ball.
The Padres have lost 6 of the last 7 games and are now 6 games back.
I hope they can at least prevent the sweep.
GO PADRES!
