How many times will Greg Garcia watch strike three in a huge AB?

I count at least  3 so far.

So he has that going for him....which is nice.

🙄

Greg Garcia seems very low on our list of issues ... the dude's OBP is .364 ... what do you want?

Nice walk-off-challenge today! 🙂

Yeah, if all our other " hitters" had as good approach at the dish as Garcia, we'd have scored a lot more runs and more W's to show for it

Guys like Hedges and Myers try to pull everything when they're behind in the count, which is just backwards thinking.

And when was the last time we've had that high of an OBP from the lead off spot?

Again, Garcia not an issue.

You can have a high OBP and “not be a problem” and still be frustrating to watch.

Did you watch the game?

It just seems like whenever he’s up in a big situation he watches strike 3 right down the middle.

I’m thinking he’s guessing and routinely guessing wrong.

Gotta at least put the ball in play.....as Reyes did in the next AB.

Plus no one else is commenting on the games at all....so there’s that.

Garcia would have to K approximately 1,000 more times before I would be as frustrated with him as I am with Myers & Hedges.

I am really hoping Pads front office does more than just hope Tatis revives the entire team/offense:

We're not going to win the division, but we can/should compete for a wildcard.  Bring the kids up & let em play:  Tatis, Urias, Mejia, Cordero (give him a long rehab to get rolling like Urias & Mejia are)...

I understand this and sorta agree with it ... and ... who goes?

Of those 4, only Urias is "rolling" ... and it's not clear why he's not back up yet ... but I guess they don't want to flush the $ for Kinsler until they have to?

Mejia just started his rehab ... I agree that a long one is OK ... with the caveat that it's not obvious that it's helping Austin Allen to be on the MLB bench so much ... the catching situation is not yet good as we appear to have 3 mediocre-at-best catchers right now ... they need to get to where any 2 of the 3 are solid-mediocre ... it sure seems to me that the path to that end is with Mejia playing near-full-time and AAllen playing near-full-time ... oh, I don't know ... it's a tough situation ...

Tatis and Cordero haven't even started playing yet, right?  No rush ... unless ... there's value in making a push for a wildcard spot ... sure there's some value ... at what cost?

It's a fun ride to be on 🙂

Paddock looked out of sync today, maybe too much time between starts due to stiff neck Sunday. The rest of the team looks lifeless and ready to head home and hopefully play better against a Marlins team that is 7 - 3 in last 10. They better not assume that they will win , we are not close to being good enough for that. Other than the laugher Saturday the wins seem to be very close and most losses they aren't quite ready to compete offensively. Also I tend to like Andy Green but in the win against the Yankees he used 4 pitchers in 1 inning which is over managing. I know our RPs  have struggled but that's a little much . I do agree though , it is a fun ride.

Only positive today is we didn’t get no hit.

🙄

Well, its May 29th and we are complaining about a team that is 29-27 and is fun to watch to a point. Yes, there are some things that need to change; however, at least the FO and ownership are putting their money where their mouth is. I never thought Kinsler was a good sign, and they way over paid Myers on his extension. I thought an extension was a good idea, just too much back loading and now it will difficult at best to get him out of SD. No reason to get out of control on this season, enjoy the ride. Here are the areas that we need to improve.

1. CF - Myers/Margot is not the answer.

2. LF - Myers needs to do something, improve or go ahead and cut bait. Bad money for bad money contract exchange. Maybe a Cobb for Myers/money/and 2 mid level prospects with BAL.

3. 2B - Garcia is a fine back up, and makes a nice balance for Urias. Get rid of Kinsler.

4. SS - Tatis needs to heal, makes 3B better when Machado slides back to 3B.

5. C - Last and least, this needs to be addressed. When we get these offensive holes filed in a better manner, then I think we can live with Hedges at C. If they can not fix these other holes, then they need a better option than Hedges.

Definitely no "Rush" on them... I mean after a rehab assignment on all.  Tatis should get a significant one; don't understand the point of pushing him back to MLB w/o one, after he's been out > 1 month.  Get game timing, legs, endurance back first.

However, I'd love to see Urias arrive in conjunction with Tatis, and put them at top of order: 1-Urias, 2-Tatis, 3-Machado, 4/5 Hosmer/Reyes (vs RH/LH), 6/7 Renfroe/Myers/Cordero , 8-C.   Eventually Urias looks like an ideal #2, and Tatis maybe more 4/5, but for now I think this might give us a boost.

when they ARE ready, 25-man moves:  Mejia for A. Allen, Cordero for Naylor, Tatis for France, and Urias for 8th guy in bullpen, say Phil Maton.   Keep Kinsler for now; think his long MLB experience & defense does have some value; he was always going to transition to a bench role.  Possible midseason trade if a contender has a need.

Article today highlights Hedges extreme positive defensive value...  just absolutely insanity inducing that he can't approach league average even for C in BA/OBP... if he could he'd be perennial gold glove probably.
