Maybe Green thought that Garcia wasn´t an option because then you have to use Mejia too in case you tie the game and go into extras, probably didn´t want to end up with an empty bench, and Mejia hasn´t swung the bat well the whole season, but I hear you, 9th inning two outs, you have a switch hitter available, take a shot, at the end the only guy that put the ball in play was a lefty, the righties had no chance at all

I wish Brad Wieck knew he wasn't throwing batting practice but piching in the actual game

I hate more the fact that the 6th inning is freaking kryptonite for Lauer and Luchessi, that has being the story for two seasons now

Its not just ours, its most. What is not understandable is why SD managers can not learn this lesson. Both of these last two losses are on Green. Not pulling the starters at the right time, using same exact bullpen pitchers back to back nights, when it didnt work the night prior, and then bringing in Yates when its not a close situation, TWICE!!!! Keep making these dumas decisions and you will not be here to manage the next set of winning players and record.

And he (Andy) is under contract for two more years, so we are stuck with him at least until the beginning of 2021

Across baseball ... the trend (exclude the elite pitchers) is starting going 5 innings than getting into trouble (that is down from about 6 innings).
Maybe we are seeing a self-fulfilling prophecy from the stats guys. Start with pitchers being less effective the 3rd time though the line-up (per the stats guys) .... potentially making them go "all out" the first two times through ... then somewhat out of gas by the 6th. Pitchers then get "conditioned" to 5 inning starts and struggle even more going longer. Teams have been focusing on those middle RP so they get inserted quickly reducing the opportunity for the SP to develop for longer outings.
Also, seems that pitchers are getting to those 90-100 pitch levels earlier in the game (5-6th inning) .... maybe since they are focusing on going "all out" rather than actually pitching ... certainly "command" is becoming secondary to "stuff" if "stuff" can get you through 5-6 innings.
Maybe we should get used to MLB teams starting to go with pre-emptive strikes ... just pull every starter have 5 innings and have a "second starter / long term RP" come in at the start of the 6th no matter how well the 1st SP is performing. Take it to the next step ... 1st starter 2X though the order / 2nd starter 3rd/4th time without regard to how well the 1st starter is doing.
Baseball is a changing.
