I have no faith in Bumgarner and I am not so excited about Strasburg because his stuff is already starting to slip. He could be good for a year or two and then tank.(But I would still love to see him in our uniform) Am I the only one who saw Lauer throwing 93-96 tonight? Was I seeing things? If he can do that regularly and keep learning and improving his craft the team may have to think about him actually being a keeper.

Yeh, saw Lauer hitting 94-95 MPH and heard Scanlan commenting that he did some modification on his delivery. Might come with an initial cost of some command but if it is a net plus ... great.
Another 6 inning, 2 run performance which would be great on a team that could hit. Lauer is very strong pitching at PETCO and except for a couple of starts in COLO and a couple in SF ... good on the road. Those starts yield a lot of runs but the rest of his 28 starts were very competing ... so Lauer is really more effective (useful) over a course of a season that the ugly impression left in out minds for the few blowout performance.

On the other hand .... Wingenter may be earring his way to being a AAA arm in 2020 ... big stuff and no command.

We’ve learned that our offense needs some help and that Wingenter needs to lose his roster spot.
He is just too wild and too hittable.

Wingenter was brought up out of necessity and performed beyond expectations when he first got here. Since then he has been unreliable. We have tons of big relief arms in the minors. We only need 1 or 2 to step up and figure it out. It seems Reyes has been making a comeback. If he can maintain it he can replace Wingenter. Send him back down (if still possible) to figure it out.

Wingenter has 2 more option years as far as I can tell ... only turning 26 ... so with his stuff should get the time in AAA next season to develop some command and likely be the up and down RP throughout the season.

Cause there haven’t been many “ups” while he has been up.
I realize he will probably stay on the 40 man.....but I don’t want to see him in SD unless everyone else is on the IL.
He certainly shouldn’t be coming in in any high leverage situations.
Castillo will be back......I think we’ll have enough BP arms that Trey can stay in EP.

Here's something we haven't seen before: both Hosmer and Machado sit. Manny has not had his head in the game for a few days now. Sat just the other day. Hmmm.

A Sunday at the end of a season for a non-contender playing a non-contender. Give the veterans a break and take a look at the others.
Myers at 1B surprised me .... could have gone with Naylor or France (with Garcia at 2B) or Mejia-Breen (with France at 3B / Garcia at 2B) or Mejia - Hedges - Torrens - Allen.
At this point makes little difference except to the bubble guys who still need to show something to remain MLers.
