Have to assume NO DH .... getting it for 2021 requires a negotiated agreement between the owners and the MLBPA and that is just one element of a lot of open issues between the two. With the CBA negotiation after 2021, not much incentive to compromise now just for 2021 ... not even sure any negotiations are happening now.

No.  Not if you mean "2o MM" total.  Think we got sucked into "150 MM" early on which I THOUGHT did come from Fowler.

To me it seems unrealistic to raise payroll in the 2nd of 2 financially crushing covid years.  I thought coming in AT 145 MM maybe the ceiling.  Problematic if it drops from there to 135-140, since really only working with half of that with 70 MM committed to 3 guys....

Actually I meant the first $10MM taking them to a $135MM level, NOT even thinking $150MM is on the table.

Considering the layoffs, non-player terminations, maybe spending $10MM on player adds is maybe too much. $10MM probably translates into 100+ non-player jobs in 2021.

Maybe going with the current roster just tinkered with on the fringe is the reality for 2021 ... no big signs.

Think they would try the mix and match approach initially until someone emerges .... so in certain situations Pomeranz but also take a long look at Pagan (hoping he returns to this TB form) and Adams (hoping his command settles ... he has the stuff). As we saw with Hoffman, Bell, Hand, and Yates ... sometimes they step up with little history. So, keep an eye out for Castillo or any of the other high velocity / high spin rate arms that just need their command to set.

If nothing works out and the Padres are still in contention ... maybe a trade at the deadline.

If Padres do indeed have 10 mil to spend, see  how low you can offer some people.  I do think the Padres need to focus on adding another LHRP.  Pom was great but who else did we have?  Big game Tim Hill?
