Like BoMels lineup.. dropping Bell to 6th.. Jake up to 5th.. take more pressure off Bell and Jake the better RBI man

And Bell comes up with the bases loaded anyway and K’s.

It’s like when you drive by a traffic accident.

You know you’re not going to like what you’re about to see but you can’t help but look.

On the bright side … they have 6 exciting walks in 4 innings!

Musgrove is at least looking good.

Ugly, but a win!

I thought it was a masterpiece ... Defense..Pitching... heads up, Power

The negative was the RISP left on base early on..but hey guys weren't striking out with them on base  .except for 2.. the rest hit the ball and in a couple cases just missed another 2 HRs .. Big W... 3-3 vs Nats (same record LAD had) .. tomorrow we go for the Season Series W.. Lets Go!

At least he redeemed himself.

Today’s game should be a lot different from the pitching duels we have seen so far vs the Nats.

First it is a day game (usually better for the hitters) BUT the pitching match-up is epic.

Manaea in his last 5 starts … 8.06 ERA … 33 hits in 22 innings

Corbin in his last 5 starts … 13.50 ERA … 33 hits in 17 innings

Track record suggests neither make it through 5 innings and hitters rejoice. Maybe a very long game using up the bullpens … or allowing one poor guy to just get worked over.

Of course this is baseball … so maybe we should suspect a 1-0 game with both pitchers going 9?

————————————-

Not a good run for Manaea who is a FA after the season and sitting with a $9MM+ contract … losing a lot of future money with his end to 2022.

I am leaning towards using Clev + Menaea $$ this offseason on Bassitt..

Big Win today for the season Series Win.. 💯  Lets Go Padres!

Think the Clev + Manaea + Myers money (AAV) is already spoken for with the full season impact of Soto + Hader.

Bassitt would be a good signing (probably north of $20MM), so how much will Siedler approve over the threshold for the 3rd consecutive year? I have them without any FA signings less than a $1MM under.

Then what about the offense … Tatis returns but Bell / Drury depart.

In the over reaction mode ….. DFA/trade Hader (big AAV in the $15MM range) and rely on Pomeranz, Hill, Castillo, and Morejon (if not starting) from the left side?

Would the Padres in 2023 be better off adding the full season of SLG from Bell or another SP in Bassitt? Both All-Star level. Internal options are big gambles for a contender. Even lower cost alternatives push them into the penalty zone.

Probably a lot depends on 2022 … make the playoffs and progress … then Siedler may see they are close to go all the way with one last hurrah in 2023 and approve the over spend … at least to the second level threshold.

Trade Hader and Alfaro … sign Bassitt and Bell … that gets them to just below the second penalty threshold and a pretty good 2023.
