Well, he had his typical high pitch count inning, but that's back-to-back good starts with double digit Ks for Snell.

Give kudos to Batten in LF … not his normal position but he made an exciting catch after a long run early in the game. Clearly he hustles … and has some speed.
He could be a longer term bench option for the INF/OF in the mold of Eric Owens.

Snell can drive you to drink, 33 pitches for first 3 innings then 30 in the fourth. He needs to fie tune and trust his stuff, almost unhittable when he does

I think the pitch clock is going to benefit Snell a lot... something to keep in mind...when we decide to move him or not...get the ball throw the ball no time to think... = advantage Snell

Adding to my continuing frustration with Hosmer's defense (can't figure how he won a gold glove or how he could have deteriorated this much). Two observations for yesterday:
- ground ball to Kim ... Kim makes a high throw BUT within the body reach of Hosmer without jumping ... ball clanks off Hosmer's outstretched glove and Kim gets the error. Looking at the play (and the replays) ... Hosmer's footwork and body positioning looked more like a drunk falling off a curb than a ML 1B. He was completely lost on how to move.
- this one is a bit picky but on a pop fly that dropped in short right ... Azocar raced in and fielded it quickly ... was ready and able to throw to 1B and still get the batter out ... however, Hosmer was off the bag and did not recognize what was unfolding and really did not hustle back to 1B. Seemed lost. Announcers said he was too far off the bag ... I saw it differently and he had ample time on the pop to retreat to cover 1B (or at least get closer) and lacked awareness to make the move as the play unfolded.
He is going to be around for a while but maybe a shift to DH is called for if they can come up with a better defensive option at 1B.
