Good timing ... gives Stammen a rest for the old guy and "showcases" Lamet.

The MLBTradeRumors note did suggest the showcasing Lamet for a trade may be part of the call-up along with the fact that Lamet has been in trade discussions. IF Lamet is effective, could the Padres get some team to bite on his contract (just under $5MM) and take the remaining $1.5MM+/- for 2022 and clear an issue for 2023?

As for Stammen ... hard to tell on the shoulder injury. Could be a short IL or could be season ending and a 60 day IL that could help the short run roster issue. Stammen is important to the organization beyond his pitching so really doubt they want to trade or DFA him ... maybe this becomes a graceful way of moving him aside but potentially return if other injuries mount in the pen. The report (outsiders opinion) that Stammen was having a good year (except for HR) ... says a lot about RP in MLB overall ... so, probably does have some trade value for the last two months of the season but not a big return and probably the Padres are willing to pass on that in deference to Stammen.

OK, don’t let Voit play 1B either … he is bad. Time to try to get a roster that lets Cronenworth play 1B?

Note the broadcast said that of Voit’s 10 HR … zero against LHP.

We starting 4 rookies (maybe 5 if Rooker still a rookie)..Batten 3B (Manny at DH) /CJ SS (Kim's thumb an issue was replaced by CJ yesterday and he rakes vs lhp and is not in lineup today)../ and Azocar in RF..and Gore at SP... when was the last time a playoff contender started 4-5 rookies in a game 1/2 way thru a season?

AJP we were sort of joking about bringing the El Paso roster up to SD...but thanks for listening... I see a 15 -2 Padres WIN..Today...LFGO SD and let's Go Padres

On the positive side ... clearly the Padres read my post and pulled Voit out of the line-up vs a LHP. I guess the domino effect is Machado to DH (more rest for the ankle) and Batten playing 3B ... OK with that.

I am coming to the realization (belief) that Mazaras history is completely irrelevant to the type of hitter he is now...throw away all splits and pre- step away from game and re-invent yourself as a hitter data... He looks much more comfortable ..completely different more patient approach and wether or not he has sacrificed some of his power for a greater coverage thru the hitting plane remains to be answered ..his BA is up his OBP is up and his SLG is similar vs his career numbers.. we will see how it all plays out after 200PA or so..but so far so good...

We can’t even get a hit and the Giants can’t even “not” get a hit.

Just ugly all the way around.

How many base running mistakes is CJ going to have his rookie year...Jesus!

On a positive note..CJ last 7 games
