Padres vs. Dodgers
Quote from MrPadre19 on August 4, 2020, 7:49 pmTough break for Lamet.
Hell of an AB by Seager.
After that outing Lamet can’t even get the W.
Bummer.....but let’s get the win for the team now.

Whats not to like .......he just looks like he is playing baseball and having fun. I hope the same demeanor comes through when he starts to scuffle....I like this kid 🙂
Not a doubt in my mind he could play outfield also and that makes him a keeper on so many levels. He can do things that Naylor, Garcia, France and any of the other reserves really can't and like Mr P said....it's not to big or fast for him. I think between him and France they have a really nice utility set up taking shape.....Right Handed Hitter / Left Handed Hitter......very cool, Garcia is a pro and stays and Jake may make Naylor a even more tenuous roster spot.
The real question is where does he play when Hosmer comes back ?
Any of the Infield.....Outfield....could he even be an emergency catcher ?
Great Get by AJ Preller
I expect to see him all over the field ... he is clearing earning a long term role and moving to the #1 candidate for 2B in 2021. The guy is just a natural ball player with all the right instincts. Only hope his bat plays beyond this small sample size ... the rest of the game seems ML quality.
Just as an aside, watched him in Monday’s post game interview and he clearly is composed in front of the camera and my immediate reaction was that when his playing career is over ... either the broadcast booth or the front office.
Starter or bench ... a very good add by Preller.

Quote from TarheelPadre on August 4, 2020, 9:02 pmBig situation in the bottom of the 8th. Down 2 runs and Naylor gets hit by a pitch to start the inning. Then Tatis, Grisham, and Machado all strike out. Good stuff.

Quote from Randy Manese on August 4, 2020, 9:37 pmTypical Dodger win - they pushed all the right buttons and were relentless. Lamet looked excellent and then he lost it and with that we lost the game. I would have also brought in Hill when Tingler did, but I would have walked Pollack to get to the Muncy. Not conventional but got to go with Hill's strength. May was incredible. Anyway, we didn't burn any of our top relievers making them available for tomorrow's game and we should have a couple of position players fresh for tomorrow. Richards gives us a chance. Go Padres!

Quote from Brian Connelly on August 5, 2020, 11:35 am1-5 same, my 6-9 tonight: 6- Myers RF (6-13 career vs Stripling), 7 - Naylor DH, 8 - Hedges, 9 - Profar 2B
Can tell guys are tired, esp Tatis & Grisham probably, but have to suck it up & find a way to win this huge game

Winning the first series of the year against the Dodgers at home would be huge.....losing back to back series to the Rox and Dodgers would be the opposite.

Yeah, really need to win to keep pace with them as "front-runners" along with the Cubs & Braves. NL West is the toughest division with the toughest schedule (entire "West").

Quote from Randy Manese on August 5, 2020, 4:28 pmSurprised Naylor not at DH - a late scratch? Like Garcia as our #1 pinch hitter off the bench from the left side so maybe Naylor has also been fighting some kind of bug? Go Padres! Let's get this one!
