Padres vs. Dodgers
Quote from Brian Connelly on August 4, 2020, 8:23 amPagan, Pomeranz, & Yates threw: 13, 17, & 15 pitches respectively....
If the same tight lead situation happens today, they HAVE to go again even if all 3 are down for the last game of the series. Have to put best foot forward to try to get series win if in that situation.

Quote from 84padres on August 4, 2020, 8:53 amOne of the best things last night was the curve Paddock threw to Bellinger. He looked like he saw a ghost, something that he didn't think existed . Paddock threw a few very good curves and that is exciting to see

Quote from Randy Manese on August 4, 2020, 2:52 pmTingler really shaking up the line-up today with Naylor (at RF), Mejia, Almonte and Garcia all starting. May's 1.57 WHIP gives us a chance that he'll make some bad pitches, since he doesn't walk that many. Padres have to be able to cash in like they did yesterday with Buehler. Looks like we're hoping for K's and ground ball outs from Lamet because our OF defense won't be strong. Let's hope Lamet is on and can bring it all the way through the 6th. Go Padres!

+1. Absolutely! He got a few calls, but he was legitimately dropping it in for strikes, which could make him an utter nightmare to face!

Really going Mega-Lefty spots 5-9 plus Grisham (2), leaving Myers & Hedges on bench. Must like the LH bats > defense... which is logical with Lamet's high K rate. At first glance, a ?? lineup, but after thinking about it for a minute, I like that he's putting a lot of these guys in as starters in a game of this "importance"... even in this 60-game season this game is still "only" the 1/5 mark...
Hopefully can go RH defense later on with a lead... Let's Go!!!

Quote from Randy Manese on August 4, 2020, 4:39 pmIt takes some guts to put this lineup against the May and the Dodgers but heading into the cutdown date and moving to the half-way point of the season after next week, we need to know how many dependable/productive bats we have against good RHP. Hopefully, the bottom of the lineup won't be automatic outs and will keep in moving to the top of the order where we should have better chance for success even though predominantly right-handed hitters. Beat LA!

Quote from fenn68 on August 4, 2020, 4:48 pmTrying to figure out the logic for this line-up. One thought is that May has a big FB and maybe the players they have in are not the big swingers / high K guys ... better chance to work the count (wear down May) and make contact to move runners along thinking if Lamet is on it could be a low scoring game and a small ball run may be important.
Myers and Hedges are high strikeout guys and maybe Profar just needs a game break.
Against May this may make sense.

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 4, 2020, 7:23 pmThis kid is amazing!
It just looks so natural for him and like the game is not too big or fast for him...offensively or defensively.
After last season with Paddack and Tatis it’s great to have two other rookies impressing this year in Cronenworth and Grisham.
Fun times!

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 4, 2020, 7:37 pmI don’t see how Tingler can take Cronenworth out of the lineup even when Hoz returns.
As I was thinking out loud last week maybe move him around the diamond giving others days off and/or a chance to DH.
Does he get regular starts at 2b?
He looks like he can play anywhere and play well.

Quote from 3fingersplit on August 4, 2020, 7:43 pmI don't know who the guy was that spotted Cronenworth for that trade but AJ may have pulled off another nugget as in the "oh yeah" we want this guy too.
Whats not to like .......he just looks like he is playing baseball and having fun. I hope the same demeanor comes through when he starts to scuffle....I like this kid 🙂
Not a doubt in my mind he could play outfield also and that makes him a keeper on so many levels. He can do things that Naylor, Garcia, France and any of the other reserves really can't and like Mr P said....it's not to big or fast for him. I think between him and France they have a really nice utility set up taking shape.....Right Handed Hitter / Left Handed Hitter......very cool, Garcia is a pro and stays and Jake may make Naylor a even more tenuous roster spot.
The real question is where does he play when Hosmer comes back ?
Any of the Infield.....Outfield....could he even be an emergency catcher ?
Great Get by AJ Preller
