Padres vs Dodgers

Margot in CF ... Myers benched.
Naylor again in LF.
Garcia at 2B (batting 2nd) and Urias benched for the second straight games.
Mejia catching.
I guess going to load up LHH. The one I find hard to see is Garcia in for Urias if a major part of Urias' development as a starting 2B is actually starting.
Stop using reasoning Fenn! Makes us all look foolish😂😂

Quote from Commie on August 4, 2019, 4:27 pmOk I'm convinced. Green has met the Peter Principle. He's out of his depth. This game has been so badly mismanaged AND the team is playing stupid baseball. That's on him. AJ Ellis come on down.

Quote from Alex Tamayo on August 4, 2019, 5:19 pmThis just blows, proof that we will never win, thats what we are, a sorry ass franchise that will always find a way to fu.. things up, and they make us think that a world series is coming, I dont even know if the playoffs are coming I can tell you guys that, I bet if freaking Urias was a dodger he would be hitting. 320, with 30 SB right now, Tatis would be hitting. 350 with 30 dingers, and Paddack would be 9-1 with a 1.50 ERA, and a 5-0 with a 1.10 ERA againist the Padres.

He is not a catcher and he cost all of the pitchers calls today......Thanks for that Andy...try to spin this garbage excuse of being a Manager

Mejia was very rough today on defense. Flip side is he was in the middle of the scoring all game. He has caught some well pitched games this year.
I see the concerns and am looking down the road for Campusano, but I think Mejia gets 500+ more ABs of a leash. What do you do if he is hitting .287/345/497 at that point?

If Naylor can play outfield....Mejia can play outfield and is faster but the key I guess the key is " IF"
I'll say it again.....Pitchers have no confidence in Mejia

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 4, 2019, 7:03 pmOur issue is also our future.
We are relying on rookies to beat the Dodgers.
Paddack,Munoz,Naylor,Urias,Mejia ALL rookies and all contributed one way or another to this loss.
Yes Tatis is a rookie who has made fewer mistakes and certainly is far and away a positive for this team....but all these others are having growing pains.
Unfortunately that is what 2019 is going to be.
It does suck that it seems like very Year the Dodgers bring up some rookie who is lights out...becomes a long term starter and then they do it again the next year.
Their rookie catcher wasn’t as highly ranked as Mejia but is hitting .320!
Then they find guys like Muncy and Beaty.
It’s disheartening.

I need to take a few days off....these guys are not good for my heart condition.
I checked my BP 4 times during the game and it was all over the place until my BP machine flew a fuse in the 9th....I don't think the numbers went up that high when I did my BP when Muncey was batting.
My wife was beside herself and I told her right before Yates threw his last pitch that as much as it hurts me to say this " The Dodgers are really good and really dangerous and they will find a way to win this "
Bang.....Muncey clears the bases...game over ......
On to Seattle Tuesday for more of the same .....three of my favorites will be center stage again I'm sure....Green , Naylor and Mejia...I can hardly wait 🙁

Quote from sportwarrior on August 5, 2019, 1:36 pmYesterday was incredibly frustrating, to the point of making me angry.
BUT...
It's asinine to make any judgments on the long term prospects of either our individual players or our guys as a team based on one early August series against a mature and demonstrably superior team (or a month-long post ASG swoon, for that matter). So many kids on this team are just that - kids. They're learning. They're growing. They're getting better. Sure, some won't, but there are a TON more ready to come up and prove that they've got what the busts don't.
I know everyone is tired of waiting. It's frustrating to be looking at yet another losing season. But we all have to keep in mind that this season was never the goal, that things had to go perfectly for us to compete in September. Obviously things haven't, but I have to say that as a rehearsal for 2020 a lot of things have left me optimistic.
All that said, I was over Josh Naylor the moment I read the kid had accidentally stabbed a teammate (which also was the day we acquired him). He's even more positionless than Franimal without even a fraction of the actual ability at the plate. Plus he comes off like an uncoachable d-bag.
