Padres vs Dodgers

I should have got this up yesterday but better late than never

Game 1 - Renfroe hit a bomb off Kershaw....love it and Luchessi pitched great through 5 innings and then it got weird

Andy Green could have hit for Luchessi but sent him back out for the 6th and the game changed....brought Wingenter in and game over.

With a rested bullpen was Wingenter the best option ?

I've seen him serve up to many big hits when he was needed most....

Oh well....tonight is another chance

Go Pads !!!!!

I thought May could go 98-100mph, havent seen any of that, although 95-96 with movement looks pretty good, hating all the jumping he does around the mound when a ball is hit

Man, Urias just doesn't look to have any idea what he's doing at the dish.

He moves his head far too much for my liking. I don't know how he can track the flight of the baseball from the time it leaves the pitchers hand.

I think he is doing much better than his first mlb trip this year, even the first few games back he made good contact without any hits but he took nice ABs and got a few BB, right now he is on a small 4 game hitting streak, besides I dont think is easy for a rookie to hit in front of the pitcher, and defensevely he has being a vacuum at 2B, I think the Padres have to be patient this time, not everybody is Tatis Jr, who even in days that he is not on top of his game he still finds a way to get on base at least one time

We will know better at the end of the season as Urias gets about 200 more PA. He is taking some BB ... getting to a .300 OBP since his return ... but not really making strong consistent contact. To me he has too much effort in his swing ... maybe still an issue with velocity. If his bat does not come around ... the Austin Hedges of 2B? In his very limited time he has already scored 2 DRS (that is good if you believe in that stat) ... but a 2B needs to hit and defense just gives him a longer leash.

Still hoping he gets it together offensively (at least a .250 hitter) but if not ... in 2020 ... since the Padres still insist they plan to contend .... is he relegated to a platoon / bench role with Garcia and Kinsler? He would have lost a lot of trade value but as the bench INF fields well enough to back up SS.

Then moving on to the internal next up .... Miller at some point in 2020? ... Edwards in 2021? ... maybe a bit optimistic on them but at least there is legit "next up".

Forgive my ignorance but didn't Machado help the Dodgers get to the WS last year? You'd think the fans in Chavez ravine would be more appreciative?

F"'#king stupid Dodger fairweather fans.

Offense is BRUTAL!

Guys on 1st and 2nd, no outs, 4 and 5 hitters coming up.

Hosmer strikes out on a pitch in his eyes then Renfroe grounds into 5-4-3.

Three plays that Urias would have done easily, and García butchers them, and then Hosmer starts playing stupid baseball, I have never seen the point of getting the lead runner in a bunt attempt when the bunter is the second out, just get the sure out, and after that fatso Naylor gives up a run, Quantrill is pitching a great game, and the defense is letting him down

Not only is Hosmer NOT a great fielder, I'm starting to feel he's not even a GOOD fielder.

Took a HORRIBLE angle on a throw from Garcia( another bad fielder) whilst Greg was in the hole. Then he airmails a throw into CF on a sacrifice attempt which extends the 5th inning. ( Dodgers haven't hit 1 ball square this inning and they've piled in 3 runs)

If AG is going to give Naylor AB's, take them away from Hosmer.

Báez going for the bunt down by Buehler made chuckle a little bit, he didnt let Hosmer grab the ball, like saying "no way Eric, I saw what you did the last time, I'll take it bro"
