Padres vs Cubs June 2-5

PreviousPage 2 of 4Next

Just another frustrating loss in a season full of them. Every time the offense starts to look better they drop a game like this. To make matters worse it looks like Odor who is one of the only guys that has been showing up consistently is headed to the IL. They're running out of time to get it turned around. It's going to be time to talk about who they ship out at the deadline soon if they keep this up.

DO NOT bat Soto behind Tatis!

Regardless where BoMel puts him, FTJ IS your lead off hitter. Anyone hitting behind him watches pitches, and we ALL know how crap Soto is in that position.

Leave Fernando in the top spot, followed by Cronenworth ( who is most definitely not a 5 hole hitter!), Machado, Soto, Bogaerts.

Stop f**king with the lineup. This is not astrophysics Bob! Keep it simple.

Having your $300 mil guy bunt when you need more than one run to win doesn’t sit well with me.

Having Grisham bunt to get Kim to 3rd may have been a good idea.

The big four are here to hit and to hit with power….not to bunt.

Wondering how many times Xander has even laid one down in his career…..a lot less than Grisham in a lot longer period I can assure you.

Bottom line…one good inning in Miami doesn’t erase our issues hitting with RISP and with the game on the line.

Cronenworths’ last swing was just pathetic.

Odor’s injury is concerning if it results in an IL stint (especially a long one). Not that I considered Odor a key to the rest of the season … but he has been hot (productive) while the others have not and with that hot spell at least gave the option to sit some of the cold players.

I guess given an injury the simple move is to recall Azocar if an IL stint for Odor. Not sure who else in AAA would warrant triggering a 40 man roster move to add them. Also, having Odor out probably limits the idea that Tatis could do some CF reps and sit Grisham … not much to sit now in RF beyond Dixon.

Sanchez catching Darvish is an interesting development.

Sanchez catching Darvish is an interesting development.

A test that had to be made ... if Darvish and Sanchez work well enough together it likely spells the end of Nola once Preller can land a replacement.

Looked at Nola's offense over the past 30 days and it is virtually non-existent and his defense is getting shaky. Maybe they can justify an IL stint rather than coldly DFA him. Could option him to the minors if at this point they really think that can help.

Plawecki does not look to be a solution in AAA (not hitting there) and Sullivan was just as bad as Nola over the past 30 days.

Preller may have to make an overpay to pry even a passible catcher out of some other organization.

So I decided that our padres needed an attitude adjustment or maybe just me so I poured a glass of good bourbon before the game started and lo and behold…3-0 in the 4th….finished my drink right when Nando hit a bomb…I might be onto something 😃

Sanchez is OUR SAVIOR... Best start by YU this season.. The SP has been elite with Gary at the receiving end... Dude is the best C we've had in a decade plus.. receiving/framing run control on a whole different level (vs Nola/Campy and Phillips) Gary going to be a great influence on Campy.. almost feel like we should try to extend him (on the cheap) soon.. 5/25 type deal..4/20?
