Going to be a tough game for the offense today with the Cubs going with Hendricks. Just back from the IL (2 starts) but those starts were strong against very good teams (NYM and TB). ERA at 3.86 even with some of the peripheral stats less commanding … but as a veteran worked through that to limit runs.

Are we relying on Snell to win this game for us? … clearly not relying on the offense.

Hopefully in batting practice they had someone throwing 85 to get them used to waiting for the pitch.

Worked for Sanchez.

Edit:And Kim…even though an error he scalded that pitch

WOW!

What a play by Manny.

I love when he smirks after a play like this like it even amazes himself.

My seats are in the second deck just into the outfield down the third base line. Watching Manny make plays like that from an elevated viewpoint is one of my favorite things about going to Petco.

Sanchez is very good .. I dont get why he wasn't snagged in FA.. Dude has a C ERA of I don't know 1.00? We are 4-2 in games he is in the lineup.. Lets Go!

As frustrating it is to watch Snell pitch … I have to give him credit for another plus outing. Actually his last three starts … 17 innings and only 1 ER, only 9 hits. Yes a ton of pitches but still going at or near 6 innings a start and posts up for every start.

He is true to form with a poor ERA early in the season and is Cy Young quality about 8-9 starts into the season. Last season he sustained that dominance through the second half … so we can hope that pattern continues in 2023 … with a strong pen … if he gets any real run support Padres could be scoring wins in his starts.

Grisham at the last minute was pulled from the line-up due to back spasms. Backs being what they are … could be a short term issue or a longer term issue … TBD.

However, it opened the door for Tatis in CF and allowed Dixon time in RF vs a RHP … and he looked well defensively and contributed some offense (more than Grisham).

If Grisham stays out a RF of Dixon / Odor seems worth the experiment to get some offense going … Bogaerts returns to SS and Kim back to 2B.

Side: Kim looked good again as a SS and his bat is working … he is playing as one of the best Padres in 2023 and would not have predicted that before the season.
