Going down 0-1 is always an issue….staring at strike 3 with the game on the line and the bases loaded…or as Soto did earlier,is an even bigger issue.

He was 0-12 this series... I dont give an F about his BBs..

He lost the game by himself in the 1st .. 1st and 3rd 0 outs .. and he can't even bounce into a DP or hit a SF..or just make contact for fks sake..not even a foul ball..

Should have won game 1.. should have won today.. AWFUL!

Remember I have had my doubts about Soto since the Padres acquired him. Hyped as the greatest HITTER since Ted Williams … is not close. More than his pitch selection, when he does make contact and exorbitant number of ground balls to 2B (sometime pop ups) … mostly weak. However, except for Bogaerts … the big bats are not hitting consistently or in the clutch. Padres were (and maybe still are) last in hitting with runners in scoring postion.

Machado is not close to his norm. Carpenter has been a failure. Nola has been not close to his norm. Grisham … 4 HR yields 5 RBI … not good.

Basically except for. Bogaerts this has been a team effort in under performance

Something I've seen a number of hitters talk about is how it's easy for them to tell when they're off at the plate, but it's not always easy to figure out how to fix it. Soto has talked about how he knows he's falling off to the pull side and how he sees all of the breakdowns of what he's doing wrong. He's working on some things and as frustrating as it may be I think he's just going to need some time to work through it and get right.

The extra innings game on Thursday and the 5-1 lead blown by the BP and the SBs by AZ in that 2nd game ..even with all these struggles not far from 11-6... instead we are 8-9... and thus week we get Tatis and Musgrove back hopefully... and the BP seems to be working itself out + Musgrove will mean a >BP too.. then BoMel can set his lineup and trust the process only alternating it to accommodate off days or where the C bats..
