Quote from Jeremy Hill on July 30, 2024, 1:38 pmSounds like it's Tanner Scott and Brian Hoeing for Snelling, Mazur, Pauley and Beshears.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on July 30, 2024, 1:54 pmNot sure how I feel about this. Snelling has had a disappointing year. Same goes for Pauley. Mazur has really struggled at the big league level. Beshears was good with The Storm, but has struggled since his promotion. It feels like we moved a lot of guys while their stock was low. There's no guarantee it comes back up though.
I wonder if we'll try to flip a reliever now. With Scott, Adam and Hoeing added to the existing options there's not enough room for everyone.

I'm OK with Pauley and Beshears....and probably Mazur along with them.
But Snelling?
Who's Starting for us in 2026?

I think ownership has made both Salas & DeVries off limit, seeing how successful Jackson Merrill has been, or at least let's hope so. Go Pads!

Quote from lafnboy13 on July 30, 2024, 2:00 pmThis year's pitching picks better come through and fast. I don't think we have anyone left after the Super 2.

Hopefully, that means Musgrove is coming soon. Cease, King Musgrove, Waldron for the playoffs. Deep shutdown bullpen. Tatis comes back. It seems that's the bet.

Quote from fenn68 on July 30, 2024, 2:14 pmPrices are high ... so if this is what is needed to get a top "rental" RP ... Padres likely had nothing to compete for a good SP. Basically adding "better" RP in Adam, Hoeing, and Scott (important as a LHRP) to complement Suarez, Estrada, Morejon, and Matsui. That makes a solid 7 RP and the 8th RP out of the others is fine.
Could be they have a lot of faith in Musgrove's return in August and finish the season with Cease, King, Waldron, Musgrove, and Vasquez (maybe Darvish). All return in 2025 to cover the two year window. Brito is still pending as the 6th.
2026 was going to be a "problem" anyway ... Cease and King FA and Suarez will opt out. Musgrove and Darvish will be older and in there 30s ... not going to get better.
