I wonder if we'll try to flip a reliever now. With Scott, Adam and Hoeing added to the existing options there's not enough room for everyone.

I think ownership has made both Salas & DeVries off limit, seeing how successful Jackson Merrill has been, or at least let's hope so.  Go Pads!

Hopefully, that means Musgrove is coming soon. Cease, King Musgrove, Waldron for the playoffs. Deep shutdown bullpen. Tatis comes back. It seems that's the bet.

Prices are high ... so if this is what is needed to get a top "rental" RP ... Padres likely had nothing to compete for a good SP. Basically adding "better" RP in Adam, Hoeing, and Scott (important as a LHRP) to complement Suarez, Estrada, Morejon, and Matsui. That makes a solid 7 RP and the 8th RP out of the others is fine.

Could be they have a lot of faith in Musgrove's return in August and finish the season with Cease, King, Waldron, Musgrove, and Vasquez (maybe Darvish). All return in 2025 to cover the two year window. Brito is still pending as the 6th.

2026 was going to be a "problem" anyway ... Cease and King FA and Suarez will opt out. Musgrove and Darvish will be older and in there 30s ... not going to get better.
