Padres here Jayce Tingler

I am willing to give Tingler a chance. I like that he is one of the new analytics based guys, that he speaks Spanish and that he has experience in Latin America. I don't think that there was ever really a perfect candidate this year. We just have to take our chances. I think we need to let Preller finish what he started. He has done amazing work with our minor league pipeline. This is his guy. Yes he still has to make some moves this winter. Let's let him do it and see if he can take us all the way.

Everywnhere he has managed he has led his team/s to championships .. Be it DR.. Latin America /other or US low minors... That may be lower levels but taking every team to a ship says "winning" Manager to me

Well......I got the Girardi to Philly right.
Got the Tingler one half right....😉
What I didn’t know was that Tingler and Kinsler go way back.....back to their days in College at Mizzou.
Does that mean Kinsler is definitely on the 26 man next season?

Interesting to see if he picks an ex-manager or respected vet as bench coach a la McGwire.
I hate his lack of any ML experience as a player for the reasons you all cited. This is the worst possible pick they could have made from all of the candidates with the exception of Ausmus, who is simply incompetent.

AJ knows he’s gotta win 78-80 games next year and make the playoffs in 21’ to keep his job.
I would guess he had this in mind when he made this hire.
If he chose Tingler over Washington and every other “experienced “ Mgr. available I’d bet there are a few reasons we aren’t privy too.

Y'all know Tingler has interviewed for Manager before right (2018 for Rangers job) so obviously we aren't the only ones who feel like he can be a quality Manager .. He lost out to Woodard in Texas (again it came down to he or Woodard) so now he gets his chance.. Lets Go Pads!

+ a TOR + a left stick Dickerson and a couple of supplemental cheap pickups like Shogo.. And this team should win 80+ in 2020.. Someone jas a career type breakout and a Rook or 2 catch fire and we could easily be that 87 Win WC2

I must agree. Honestly that would be everything I am hoping for this off-season. I think we will have a chance to get there with just full seasons from Tatis, Urias, Paddack, Quantrill and Mejia. The rest of that would make it very likely IMHO.
