Padres @ Dodgers May 12-14

PreviousPage 2 of 4Next

Padres are currently 25th in runs scored … and with the adds of Tatis, Bogaerts, and a full season of acclimated Soto to Machado the expectation was for an offensive juggernaut. Will not win too many game without scoring more runs no matter the other analytics such as OPS where they rank 15th (still not good).

I put the full “blame” on the big names on the offense not producing and generating runs. If they collectively don’t kick it into gear … the season is lost no matter what the Padres do with the rest of the line-up / pitching.

Well P has been tied or ahead in 4 of the last 5 games heading into the 7th or later and we have lost everyone of those games.. I know NO ROOM for ERROR with our current offense situation.. but man our starter last 9 games in a row have been lights out and we are 3-6.. should easily have been 6-3 to be fair.. its frustrating as hell..

But we need to Win one of the next 2..and then Sweep the Royals and hope that gets us rolling to end May..4 or 5 games over .500..

The lineup tonight should be

1. Tatis RF

2. KIM/Engel 2B

3. Manny 3B

4. Soto LF

5. Xander SS

6. Cruz DH

7. Engel/Kim CF

8. Crone 1B

9. Nola C

VS Urias ... LHP... Kim's track record vs lefties suggests #2 hole.. Ditto Crone drop to 8th vs LHP

Grish needs to sit this one and maybe Sunday's game .. vs 2x lefties

Snell artistically is frustrating but his results recently have been good. In May, 3 starts of 6 innings each yielding 3-2-2 ER for a 3.50 ERA / 1.15 ERA … in this era that is acceptable. Add the last two starts in April of 5 innings each yielding 2 ER each and that is a solid 5 game run.

IF the Padres were hitting as they should raking up 4+ runs per game and hitting with RISP  … the narrative would not be on Snell.

Or any of our SP to be 💯...

Grisham has pretty extreme reverse splits this year. He's at .163/.280/.294 against right handers and .314/.429/.600 against lefties. Now, he's only had 42 PAs against lefties this year, but he's also got better career numbers against lefties. He's also 0-6 in his career against Urias and in a 1-21 slump, so I'm not surprised to see Engel in there.

Three F’n runs for the dodgers because we can’t start a Gold Glove Centerfielder against a LH starter?

I’m about fit to be tied with this team right now!

If only defense didn’t matter!

Right now this team can’t hit a lick….it better be able to pitch and field.

Not having Grisham in CF just cost us 3 runs….

Melvin is over thinking things here.

Our offense doesn’t need to come from our Catcher and our centerfielder.

We have FOUR potential MVP hitters on this team.

Stop benching gold glove defenders hoping to get offense from a career AAAA player!

It’s 4-2.

What are the chances we score 5 or more?

Yeah….that’s what I was thinking also.

Surely this can’t continue……right?

I mean,as soon as we get a runner to 2nd or 3rd we’re screwed.

It’s solo home run or nothing.

Maybe they should just move the franchise to Mexico City.
