Padres @ Dodgers April 12-14

PreviousPage 3 of 3

BTW I missed my first 3 innings last night(this morning).

After the late night the night before I just couldn’t make it till……..when did it end?

2 am EST?

Hit the hay right after Cosgrove gave up the runs and went to sleep dreaming of another comeback win….but alas, was not to be.

Always nice to take a series from the Dodgers.

Confidence builder…plus two series wins in a row after not winning one and another comeback win.

Life is better when the Padres win

Amazed at the restraint by Padres' posters after taking the series from the Dodgers in LA!  Celebrate!  Be happy!  You have to like the early vibes of this team even though they are only at .500 and a lot of credit has to go to Shildt and his staff in being consistent in their approach.  True, it has been an uneven beginning for many of the players but they've shown a lot of grit and determination and I'd much rather see that then them going through the motions most of last year.  GO PADRES!

Although he's not expected to keep up this kind of production, way back when he was a teenager Profar was one of the most highly thought of prospects in the minors and reached the majors at only 19 years of age.  I'm happy for him and compared to what the Dodgers paid Ohtani, Yamamoto and others, his 1 million dollar contract is chump change for what he brings to the Padres.   Keep smiling Jurickson!

While his numbers are sure to relapse towards his norms, there is just something about Profar and this team. I do not believe it was a coincidence that when he returned to the team in September, their record improved. There is something he must do in the clubhouse that is not measured in numbers except for W & L. And that is the number that really matters.

Shildt has had some very positive comments about Profar's impact on the club beyond his stats.

Should be interesting to see how they approach his FA at the end of the season. Have to sign him (and expect he really wants to extend) but "price" always rears it head. At least Boras is no longer his agent.

We could see an issue with the CBT if the Padres re-sign both Kim and Profar given as expected significant ARB increases for Cease and King ... no big money departing. Of course, if the stay under in 2024 the penalties re-set and the hit would be minimal in 2025 ... 2026 opens up with Hosmer off the books and Cease / King FA. Bite the bullet for 2025?

This "team" is very different from last years and it isn't just the payroll change.

We can speculate who/what has made the difference...guessing we all have our own thoughts on the matter....sure it isn't just 1-2 players either but a combination of some leaving and some joining.

Wish we had Lugo back......:)
