Padres at Giants

Here's the chance to put Naylor in the line-up, if Hosmer is out, at 1b.  For me, hard to keep Olivares out of the line-up and to keep Hedges in the line-up.  Therefore, I'd go with Tatis, Grisham, Machado, Profar, Pham (DH) Myers, Mejia, Naylor and Olivares.

True that Stammer had a very bad outing but it was his first bad outing.  The problem was not getting him out sooner despite RH batters coming up to the plate.  This was the same problem with our earlier loss.  I understand showing trust in a pitcher but you have to use better judgment to win these games and not let them go out of hand.  This is probably the hardest task for a new manager.  I hope he gets better and doesn't squander the resources he has in the pen based on sentimentality or fearing a show of a lack of confidence for whoever is on the mound.  Pitchers have bad days and they know it - pull them without hesitation.

We need to win the series with Lamet, no matter the line-up, and play smarter than we did yesterday.  We need to be aggressive at the plate after we get the lead as we were before we had the lead and have that killer instinct. We cannot be satisfied to just trust the bullpen but have a plan B, when players become human and fail.  It was a disappointing night but I hope there were lessons learned and we fight our way back today before heading to Colorado.  Go Padres!

All I know is we better be up by about 8 runs in the 5th inning cause I doubt there’s any way I’m making it till 1 am for a third night in a row.

I’m not yet in regular season form.

I’m sure Tingler has a plan each game on who he hopes to be able to pitch in relief and how far they can go.
But I also think he’s trying too hard to stick to the plan and not adapting to how it’s playing out.

Wanting to get two full innings from Stammen is one thing....letting him go when he’s struggling with the game on the line is another.

Hosmer out of the line-up again ...... stomach issue being evaluated.

1. Tatis (SS)

2. Grisham (CF)

3. Machado (3B)

4. Pham (LF)

5. Profar (2B)

6. Myers (DH)

7. France (1B)

8. Mejia (C)

9. Olivares (RF)

Think Gausman for SF is a RHP .... so two nights in a row with a SF RHP and Hosmer out .... Padres don’t go with Naylor at 1B or DH. Might we be on the verge of Naylor to the alternative site upon the Padres return from the road trip?

France for Naylor, but otherwise the line-up looks good to go absent Hosmer.  Naylor must really be in the doghouse.  Belt and Longoria back in the line-up for the Giants so it might be a stiffer test for Lamet, although he should have the capacity to control this game.   Let's see who follows Lamet and how Tingler/Rothschild bounce back from failing to recognize Stammen's implosion and/or doing something about it.

If we lose Hosmer for any length of time and if Trammell has done well at the alternate training site, might see him up when Naylor goes down.  I wasn't impressed by what I saw of Almonte.  Gives us more flexibility in the OF unless they want to push Mejia or Profar there and bring up Torrens.

I know it's early but... our defense scares the crap out of me. 1st inning Pham and Tatis almost collide on a routine pop up. both losses could be traced to not making the routine plays. So far lots of walks and HRs are our whole offense.

Now the 3rd inning run was good to see. Double , ground out move runner to 3rd and passed ball ,run scores on nice base running by France . Nice job of manufacturing a run.

Is any of our catchers gonna get a hit anytime soon?

Wow Grisham just saved the game with that great catch.

If only Tatis’s throw was on line to 1B could have been an inning ending double play.

But still got out of the inning so Lamet can earn the win of the Pen can hold it.’Id sure like to see some more runs from the offense just in case!

If they don’t I have to believe we will see Torrens at some point.

This is pretty bad.

So, at the end, are you staying up through the whole game Mr P.?
