At least at this moment ... Padres have yet to activate Clevinger or Allen for tonight’s game.

Appears that Morejon and Bednar have ....

Don't see how they could possibly get there THAT fast.  No point to activating Clevinger until it's his turn to start.

Assuming Castro is there, they have 12 position players, 1 extra P.  Likely a 1 day MLB cameo for Bednar.  But then 1 other P has to be optioned to make room for Greg Allen.  Altavilla?

Report the Padres used “private jets” to get players to Denver (avoids any airport / airplane issue). Given the Padres credit for not going cheap on this.

Not sure the timeline for activating new acquisitions ... probably gets all sorted out tomorrow on the off day. No idea what to make of Altavilla who as far as I can tell is out of options.

If they add Clevinger, Allen, and Altavilla ... Bednar / Morejon likely optioned but that 3rd should be a pitcher (going back down to 15) ... not a lot of players that can be optioned ... not going to be Hill, Strahm, or Pagan ... leaves Patino and Perdomo who are throwing well of late. Keep in mind that gets to be a bigger issue if (when) Adams comes of the 45 day IL since he too is out on options. Yates if he returns (not likely) presents the same issue.

I see some DFAs on the near term horizon.

Umpires have been horrible behind the plate the last few games.

Yikes.

I just don’t see Altavilla holding onto a 28 man spot.

Especially once Adams comes back.

IF we have this Richards the rest of the way.....YIKES!!! Look out West divisions, the Padres will be rolling!

Richards out of the game at 47 pitches and 2 outs in the 4th? Seem in full command.

Morejon in ... risky move.

Richard's starting on 3 days rest threw 33 pitches Thursday.  Good time for Morejon with 5 of 6 leftys coming up . Tingler is starting to make me believe he's a mad genius.

I agree. Richards was dealing. Give the bullpen a breather.

However, I can see the other side as well. Let Richards leave with a zero ERA in Coors. There are some guys that have been added to the bully that might need some work. And we have an off day tomorrow.

Having Clevinger added to the rotation should take some strain off of the Pen.

But I’m a believer of not over using the bullpen....even with the off day tomorrow no need to use them any more than necessary.

I would have let Richard go 5 anyway...he had a 5 run lead, only given up 1 hit....let him get the W unless he runs into real trouble AND use the BP for a couple less innings now.

Save them for when we really may need them.

Morejon with 3 solid.......that was huge.

well, he does now have about 47 arms in the pen he can go to.  Good thing they instituted the 3 batter rule...
