In a similar vein ... as of now reports say that the NYY are asking high for Gray in the terms of ML talent as a return.

While MLB has been patient with teams tearing down and rebuilding, the MPBPA is still going to want every team to have some resemblance of ML quality players on every team and maintain some respectable level of ML payroll as well. In addition, Myers is more than capable of playing LF in BAL and well in the smaller ballparks of the AL East. I dont believe that BAL has any OFer in the quality of Myers ability. So if we were to send a good/very good close to ML ready SP, Myers, and $10M in cash for Cobb; I still hold the opinion that it would be a good trade for both teams.

Depends on the reason Cobb struggle in the first half last season.

2017 he had a 3.66 ERA in the AL.

Last year he really struggled in the first half but post AS break he had a 2.56 ERA.

I know i'm just looking at ERA but i would guess the advanced metrics would say the same thing.

My guess is the first half of 2018 was the anomaly and coming to the NL and Petco would improve his production

even further.

As i said originally....I'm not super excited about him but he could be a steal if the O's are desperate and he reverts to his "normal" numbers for us.

I also noticed for the season Cobb had a 6.90 ERA on 5 days rest with 82 hits allowed in 59 ip.

But with >5 days rest he had 3.09 ERA with only 80 hits allowed in 90ip.

This may be related to his pre and post AS break numbers or he may just be a much better pitcher when he gets an extra day rest.

I once visited Mia .. but did not buy.

Can't kill this (or versions of this rumor). Most "experts" seem to think it would be a bad trade for the Mets to add Realmuto while losing Syndergaard ... rather just sign a FA (or make a lesser deal) but hold on to Syndergaard. If that is the prevailing logic ... maybe NYM need to get more (probably a piece from SD) and clearly Mia clearly would have to get 4 quality prospects / ML players.

I am not holding my breath on this one.

In that sane article it lists Reds, LAD, PADRES and 2 others a still in on JT... Mets need us or NYY (and that seemed to fizzle) to get JT.... We are like the ONE team here with TWO seats at the table.. we can go get Noah OR get JT and keep him all to ourselves.... Talks with Mets were all but dead (because NYM were asking Tatis Jr or Gore, now they've soften, and NEED US to get JT, so why not underpay a little for Noah and have them pay more for JT... Padres get 12.6 worth of WAR from Syndergaard and the Marlins want prospects .... not sure what prospects bundle up for that worth? If Margot to the Mets makes Syndergaard whole ... the need about 10.6 WAR to make Miami whole: Lucchesi (1.1 WAR with 5 years control could get them half way there with ML talent) then maybe they bite on ML ready Cordero (6 years control) then roll in A.Allen and Quantrill on the prospect side. In the NL so not likely eager for a DH type (Reyes or Naylor).
