Too bad, I liked him. Still, I am willing to give Dickerson a chance. At least Manny likes him. As long as we keep Balsley I will not have a problem.
Could he head back to El Paso in some capacity maybe?
That would be a step down. He's certain to move on since not retained as Bench coach.

Quote from MrPadre19 on November 1, 2019, 10:50 amOf course it's a step down.....but it beats unemployment or possibly a step down in another Org.
I would think if he was to take back over EP for instance he may get a better shot if/when Tingler doesn't survive.

Quote from Brian Connelly on November 1, 2019, 11:22 amIs anybody else disappointed about Jankowski? I liked him!
His days were obviously numbered after the trade for Trammell. And his "20" 'power' made him unviable as a full time starter... But I thought he fit an extremely specific need for Pads: as a MLB ready "bridge" to Trammell's arrival as the starter in CF. Specifically as a leadoff platoon guy with Margot, hopefully catalyzing offense a little (IMO Tatis leading off with 30+ HR potential is a waste).
I strongly believe Trammell needs to put together 1-2 good months in AA before arriving in SD. And I think Cordero might need the same in AAA to get his legs, timing, etc back after missing almost 2 full years. I get Jank is a distant 3rd to these 2 guys everyday potential, and extremely unlikely to be around through the full season, but thought he could have helped in the 1st 1/2.
More roster changes certain, but now have a "gap" between a guy who can be on 25-man Opening Day as a LH CF option, but NOT block Trammell. At the moment, there's pressure on either Cordero or Trammell to be MLB ready from Day 1 in 2020; maybe not realistic.

Quote from MrPadre19 on November 1, 2019, 11:55 amI'm actually hoping they start Trammell in AAA.
Should gain some confidence hitting there.
Or at minimum start him in AA and get him to AAA within 4-6 weeks.

He struggled all year at AA in 2 different leagues/teams. Did get hot at the end of season & late season heroics, but I'm literally starting to think (your favorite topic), that offensive output at AAA is just meaningless or even counter-productive....
This is SLIGHTLY cheating, but I think here's why:
Pads 2019 end of year AAA SP: Jerry Keel, Bryan Mitchell, Dillon Overton, Dietrich Enns, Emmanuel Ramirez
Pads 2020 begin of year AA SP: Mackenzie Gore, Luis Patino, Adrian Morejon, Reggie Lawson, Ronald Bolanos
... OK, Pads are RIDICULOUSly deep in SP, but the point is: AA you're facing guys who will be SP in MLB in 1-2 years; typically elite velocity. AAA you're facing (mostly) older 4A "wily" guys not good enough to stick or make it to MLB; typically well below average velocity compared to MLB. Of course exceptions to that, but at least in PCL vs. Texas League this is the case....
I want to see an elite MLB prospect have some sustained success @ AA BEFORE AAA (or MLB!)

Quote from fenn68 on November 1, 2019, 1:59 pm4 more players to go by Monday. Preller has to be working the phones trying to get something (anything) for at least 4 roster names as they did with Jankowski.
Since they need only 4 by Monday .... then additional cuts by Nov 20 if they choose to add for Rule 5 ... Preller may be tossing a lot of names into the mix beyond his “lowest” 4. Of course in between those dates the could make small trades too but the big one usually start coming around the winter meetings and the big FA signings after.
Pretty interesting strategy game ... as to who and when players are moved ... especially if they want to “sneak” some through waivers and keep them in the organization.

Yes, I am disappointed that Jank is gone, I liked his skill set against RHP. From what Ive seen, there are some that dont see Trammell as a CFer, so I still think that our lead off hitter and CF/RFer will be Akiyama.

I think that Akiyama will be needed either way considering that Trammell is not ready yet and nobody can know exactly when he will be ready. Trammell definitely has the speed and athleticism to be a good CF, just like Cordero. They just either have to improve with practice or we have to be okay with an average CF. Yes they both have the physical ability to be great, but at least neither is below average.

From what I have read about Trammell, it is not his speed or athleticism that people doubt about playing CF, it is his arm strength. Personally, dont care that much about arm strength in CF if he can run down everything, so take that evaluation of his arm with a grain of salt.
