“Now as to price … clearly OAK wants prospects and delete payroll (even if it is only $2.450MM). Maybe in the Knehr / Elliott level of prospects?”

If this is the cost why is it not done?

My guess either this is not the cost or AJ has several deals in the works still(what I believe) and this may or may not even be one.

All of the above … plus maybe OAK is still trying to leverage up more from MIA or ATL or ???? Plus maybe Melvin does not see him as we do … he knows him better than most.

Might have to wait until the dust settles with the other teams to find out what OAK will take … don’t think they are in a hurry to make a move. Plus OAK could just be holding until the trade deadline when they think they can leverage it even further up … he is back and maybe productive for immediate reward.

Now they would potentially selling low on a suspended player that will not play for some time and some question how long before he is up to game speed.

An earlier MLBTR report said that the suspension is going to cost Laureano enough service time that the A's will gain back a 4th year of control. The latest report says the A's were after JJ Bleday. His stock may have fallen some, but I don't think Knehr or Elliot would get it done if that's who they were trying to get from the Marlins.

Laureano had a .380 OBP against LH pitching last year.

Give them what’s fair and let’s roll.

Surely we aren’t going to start the season with the Outfielders we have on the roster right now?

We literally have “two” plus Profar on the entire roster.

Pham is signing with the Reds, terms not disclosed yet.

A’s may be asking for Bleday … but MIA is not giving them Bleday and apparently no other team is even going that high.

Actually, Bleday was a high draft pick (4th overall) but he is now 24 and had two very subpar years in the minors (both below .700 OPS) and the last was in AA. Might he still be a good ML .. sure … but not the prospect as he was when drafted … and still MIA is out moving him for Laureano.

So, the trade value of Laureano may be a lot less than the A’s want and may have to drop a couple of levels.

Wonderful no matter what the Reds paid …. It kept him away from SD even if that was only a remote chance.

Reading on MLBTR, that PIT was asking for both Watson and Meyer from MIA when discussing a trade for Reynolds.

Watson is their #1 prospect and a SS, so equal to Abrams, right? And Meyer is listed as their 2nd best pitching prospect. So probably Gore?

Of course MIA balked at that, and I would imagine so would SD.

I'm sure returning to a band box will improve his numbers.

Glad he's chosen to play elsewhere.

I am so so happy that flim flam Pham will NOT be playing for the Padres this year….he is the biggest I/ Me player to ever wear a Padres uniform and nobody on the roster shed a tear when he left…Cincy will find out soon enough what other teams already know

Or maybe the A's just aren't that desperate to trade him. He's got 4 years of control left and is still cheap. It's not the same situation as the guys they have traded so far. I'm sure teams are trying to buy low given the suspension, but realistically they would probably be justified in asking for a package similar to what they got for Chapman. Knehr and Elliot might work as complementary pieces. They wouldn't be the headliner in any deal.
