This happens too often for my taste.
Dodgers or Padres…then they pick LA.

McCutchen destroys lefties. I love him as a platoon option. 900+ OPS against them in 10 of his 13 seasons. Only been under 800 once. Bryant kills lefties too, but I don't know that we can afford him. Same goes for Castellanos. Soler has good career numbers against them. Pham has great career numbers and I think he's primed for a bounce back.

Soler has always been my choice for DH..….have barely heard even a rumor about him.
Cutch would be great as a platoon OF/DH against lefties…esp. if we end up able to move Myers.
I think the ship has sailed on Pham….which is fine…but wouldn’t completely rule him out as DH if all else fails.

Wow… Cruz gets “3 years”!
Thank goodness that wasn’t us….and what are the Yankees doing?
Twins just unloaded a ton of salary.
Add them to the Tigers and Marlins as teams who are on a meteoric rise now in my opinion.
I’m guessing they’re about to spend some of that $50+ mil they just saved.

Healthy and with a semi-normal off-season I think Pham gets back closer to his career numbers. His workout regiment is insane and he uses spring training to find the right contacts for his eye condition. Between the stabbing and COVID his off-season has been far from normal the past 2 years. He wouldn't be my first choice, but on a cheap 1 year deal I would be fine with him coming back.

As much as I would have liked to have had Nelson Cruz, 15M minimum (12M plus 3M for club not exercising opti0n) and possibly 24M maximum over two years for a 40+ year old is a little too much with the limited funds the Padres have to add a bat to the roster. At least LA didn't get him!

The price tag for Cruz at his age was just too much for a DH only. I am OK with not signing him.
The MINN moves are interesting … clearing that money and getting a plus defense 3B (who has some offense in his game) may make me think they will be players for Correa or Story for SS. That would put Polanco at DH with his limited defense. Make that move and their offense will be fine plus significantly improved defense on the left side of the INF. Not sure what they do with Sanchez (have never been a fan). They still have need for a pitcher or two and have some prospect to deal. Padres have some pitching.
NYY are even more interesting … adds some big money putting them over the first threshold of tax (probably not a big issue for them since they re-set in 2021). However, they were really looking for a LHH (and 1B) … Freeman may just be too expensive Olson may work if they have the necessary prospects (and are willing to deal them). Padres may play here … if nothing else Caratini may fill the catching hole. However, a bundle of Campusano and Hosmer (Padres eat some contract or take Voit) might also work if Preller does not ask for too much in return.
Maybe in both cases this will motivate their Division rivals to make moves … more so in the AL East.

Now…..what is Soler expected to get?

Very little in the way of rumors for either of these guys…same with Castellanos for that matter.
I’m thinking AJ is waiting on Suzuki to make his decision.
