HUGE difference getting batters at low-A vs High-A out. I've learned over the years to be wary of over-rating guys after great season at Ft Wayne; Elsinore is the real proving ground for P's. Not ready to compare him to Gore yet; but I do assume he will move up a level to take Gore's spot when Gore moves up after Futures Game. Like Gore nothing else to prove at the level he's at.

Wasn't so much comparing the players as I was their stats.
I agree it's early....but man,if Cantillo can be added to the list of Gore,Morejon,Baez,Weathers and Patino as top 100 prospects.

Is it odd to anyone else that Edward Olivares has 12 hr,19 2b and 21 sb's and ZERO triples?
You would think a guy with SB speed and good power would fall into a few triples at some point.

I had forgotten that Padres signed Paco Rodriguez! When I saw him with Dodgersin 2013, I thought he was real deal. He's still only 28. What reminded me is this note from the June Player of the Month article ...
Paco Rodríguez posted a 1.17 ERA in 15.1 innings with an 11:2 K: BB rate

Impressed with the 9th and staying in the 10th with the rules placement of a runner at 2nd and still mowing down 3 in a row to finish the game.
Also like the commentary that said the Gore and Patino are good friends and Gore helps Patino with English and Patino helps Gore with Spanish. Might be an factor (since both are very young) waiting to move both up a level at the same time if they benefit from each other.

Boy Patino sure looked like the Padre Closer of the future last night.
I know he's a Starter.....but hopefully if all the other Starting prospects pan out(or even most)
a few of these guys(if not traded) will be valuable BP pieces.
Patino sure looked the part of a shut down closer.

Yep looked that part but really would want him (and Gore) to become top of the rotation starters (#1s / aces) ... Padres running them out back to back would be really strong with Paddack, et. al filling out the starting rotation.
I will aim more toward Munoz, Baez, or Wingenter ... all power arms ... to develop into that closer of the future. As we have observed ... top of the rotation arms hard to find while top closers seem to come out of nowhere (Yates, Hand).

Ideally yes...he stays a starter...but then again,if we have so many we don't have room for them someone has to go to the Pen!
